Job Description

Coordinates and provides support to the technical process associated with the organisation, monitoring and execution of project responsibilities relating to construction and maintenance works on the high voltage transmission system.
Key Responsibility Areas

• Supports and provides technical advice/ information on the principles and applications associated with the project monitoring stages of high voltage construction and maintenance works related requirements.
• Establishes and schedules the work/ requirements for a range of high voltage construction and maintenance projects with high variations to the technical specifications and requiring more involved interpretations of the high voltage transmission system and environmental dictates.
• Makes determinations, executes actions to address arrangements and implements approaches to address pre-work safety, compliance requirements and operating standards.
• Co-ordinates tasks/ activities associated with the monitoring of the technical requirements associated with a range of construction and maintenance projects to the high voltage system with high environmental impacts.
• Engages on the technical requirements relating to the project or, contractual obligations and performance requirements.
• Performs technical administrative processes to maintain asset information of the high voltage transmission system.
• Performs specific administrative task/ activities associated with the updating and maintaining records/ information of work in progress and completed works and attends to the provision of support with specific processes.

Essential Requirements

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Electrical Engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Electrical Technician (Pr Technician) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Must pass a departmental proficiency test, to prove sufficient general knowledge of high voltage electrical plant and equipment and associated protection systems.
• Authorized without restriction to operate on the MV and HV System.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 5 years relevant post registration experience relating to high voltage electrical plant and equipment associated with substation, lines and/or cable construction.
