The CTO plays a pivotal role in leading technological advancements across various business units, ensuring Sanlam stays ahead in the competitive financial services sector.We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to spearhead the company's ambitious technology transformation. This role involves leading the technological integration across multiple autonomous businesses within the Sanlam Group, driving a comprehensive cloud transformation, and implementing a cutting-edge data strategy. The CTO will collaborate closely with the Group CIO, other business unit leaders, and technology experts to create a cohesive, future-proof technology landscape that supports Sanlam's strategic goals.Responsibilities:

• Technology Transformation: Orchestrate large-scale technology transformations across multiple business units, focusing on integration, data, CRM, claims, customer experience, and core policy administration.
• Cloud Migration: Lead the implementation of cloud transformation/migration strategies for both back-end and front-end technologies across various business segments, ensuring seamless integration and scalability.
• Data Strategy Implementation: Drive the execution of a comprehensive data strategy, including the deployment of machine learning models, large language models (LLMs), data lakehouses, and data fabrics across multiple client segments and business units.
• Collaboration and Integration: Work with CIOs of different business units, FinTech, and Group Technology to harmonize technology strategies and align them with business objectives.
• Innovation Leadership: Foster a culture of innovation, ensuring that they remains at the forefront of technology in the financial services industry.
• Cost Optimization: Streamline and optimize the technology stack to reduce the total cost of ownership while enhancing operational efficiency.

• Proven experience in leading technology transformations at a large scale, particularly in financial services or similar industries.
• Extensive experience in orchestrating cloud transformation/migration strategies across multiple business segments.
• Deep expertise in data strategy implementation, including ML, LLMs, data lakehouses, and data fabric technologies.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams across diverse business units.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to foresee and capitalize on future technology trends.
• Experience in managing technology budgets, optimizing costs, and driving efficiencies.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required; a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or similar is preferred.
