We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Civil Engineering Lecturer to join our educational institution's faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and a passion for teaching and mentoring students in the National Certificate (Vocational) N1-6 levels. The role involves delivering engaging lectures, facilitating hands-on practical sessions, and contributing to curriculum development within the NATED N1-6 Civil Engineering program.
Key Responsibilities:
Lecture Delivery: Prepare and deliver comprehensive lectures on various subjects within the NATED N1-6 Civil Engineering curriculum, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and relevance of content.
Practical Sessions: Plan and conduct practical sessions, laboratory exercises, and workshops to reinforce theoretical concepts and develop students' practical skills in civil engineering.
Student Engagement: Foster an interactive and supportive learning environment by encouraging student participation, answering questions, and addressing concerns related to the course material.
Assessment and Evaluation: Design, administer, and grade assessments, assignments, and exams to evaluate students' understanding and progress. Provide timely feedback to aid their learning journey.
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the academic team to review, update, and develop curriculum content, ensuring alignment with industry standards, technological advancements, and educational best practices.
Mentorship: Provide academic and career guidance to students, supporting their personal and professional development in the field of civil engineering.
Research and Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and research within civil engineering. Share relevant insights with colleagues and incorporate new findings into teaching methodologies.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. Participate in departmental meetings, workshops, and academic committees as required.
Student Support: Offer additional support to students who may require extra assistance, such as tutoring or counseling, to ensure their success in the program.
Quality Assurance: Uphold the institution's academic standards and policies, contributing to quality assurance processes and initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
SACE registered in full.
Strong expertise and experience in civil engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
Teaching experience, particularly within the NATED N1-6 Civil Engineering modules, is highly advantageous.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in using educational technology and tools to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to staying current with industry trends and advancements.
