A vacancy for a Civil Engineer/Technologist has become available in our Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) office. Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacancy. The successful candidate will report to the SBU Partners.POSITION INFO:DescriptionA qualified individual with proven experience and expertise in civil infrastructure projects. The applicant would be expected to coordinate the implementation of projects and management on a subtask level, including client liaison, budgets and guiding of junior staff. The successful candidate will be based in Gqeberha and will also provide support to SRKs Principal consultants on a variety of projects. A willingness to travel is essential as the successful candidate may be required to work on projects in diverse locations.Experience and SkillsThe candidate must:

  • Have a BSc / BEng / BTech in Civil Engineering.
  • Have a professional registration or be eligible to register with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng).
  • Have a 6 - 10 years of experience in the consulting field.
  • Ancillary expertise in e.g., structural, water and wastewater treatment or mining engineering will be an advantage.
  • Possess good writing and communication skills.
  • Be proficient at MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and MS PowerPoint.
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D or TechnoCAD knowledge will be an advantage).
  • Be willing to work across disciplines, and to develop a diverse skill set.
  • Work as a part of a team, providing support where it is required.
  • Be resourceful, with good initiative and the ability to work independently.
General Requirements
  • Planning, design and implementation of civil engineering infrastructure projects including compilation of tender and contract documentation.
  • Coordination of projects and management on a subtask level, including client liaison, budgets, invoicing, personnel and guiding of junior staff.
  • Writing of technical reports and letters.
  • The successful person should be able to multitask and although we work in a team environment, he/she should also be able to work independently.
  • Traveling in South Africa but potentially in Africa may be required.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and on multiple projects.
