Further to this you possess numerical excellence and an ability to understand and translate logic into calculation language.You are a strategic logical thinker who has the ability to adapt and work in a highly pressurized, fast-paced and live collaborative environment.Main Purpose of the Role:You will support the delivery of our Client's Cities team's diverse portfolio of projects aimed at making cities and towns around the world work more efficiently, more fairly and more sustainably. Work includes the implementation of spatial plans, urban socioeconomic analyses, public sector strategy development for city and town governments, organisation design studies, urban climate resilience strategies, as well as infrastructure and investment planning and finance.Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive research that encompasses technical, social, environmental, institutional, financial, and economic dimensions, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, with a particular focus on spatial dimensions.
  • Lead the development of detailed reports and analysis, implementation plans, and other documentation tailored for clients and partners, ensuring information is accessible and actionable.
  • Develop and deliver presentations that succinctly communicate key findings, project outcomes, and methodologies to diverse
  • Offer versatile support across various projects, including those beyond the specialist area, by providing research, analysis, and advice
  • Lead client meetings, offering insights and maintaining strong client relationships through effective
  • Lead project planning and execution, ensuring tasks are completed within timelines and project goals are met.
  • Employ a structured approach to analysis and deliverable development, ensuring outputs are of the highest quality and impact.
  • Support junior staff through performance management and mentorship.
  • Ensure project administration is conducted according to internal processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to identifying potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with commercial matters including negotiations with subconsultants, contract management, invoices and payments, to ensure projects are executed within budget and within set timeframes.
  • Play an active role in the identification of new business opportunities and the development of proposals to expand the organization's portfolio.
Key qualification, skills and attributes:
  • A Master's degree in an appropriate field including Town and Regional Planning, Public Policy, International Relations, Politics, Engineering, Accounting, Actuarial studies, Finance, Law, Development Studies, Economics (Labour economics, Development economics, Trade, Public Economics).
  • 5 Years' experience working in consulting, development organizations/development finance institutions, the public sector (e.g. municipal/ city government), academia or think-tanks, or relevant corporate
  • Experience working in, and managing, diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
Advantageous:
  • Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East or Asia.
  • A keen interest in or previous exposure to working across public, economic, institutional and environmental sectors
  • Experience in delivering consulting or advisory projects, research projects, policy and strategic analyses, and implementation projects, with an emphasis on impactful outcomes.
  • Project and team management, including financial and human resources management.
  • Financial analysis track-record in a public sector context.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. Stata, SPSS, Matlab, R/Python) and/ or familiarity with analytics (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and GIS software (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS).
  • Accreditation with professional bodies (e.g. SACPLAN, ECSA,PMI)
  • Experience with industry standard project management methodologies & frameworks (e.g. CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe)
  • Must be eligible to live and work in South Africa
