The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Implement, monitor and control clinical risk processes according to quality and risk standards.
Ensure all work completed is per policy, compliance, and governance requirements.
Collaborate with SHERQ and IPC officers at hospitals to ensure the consistent application of risk reporting systems.
Take responsibility for the below outlined duties applicable to the management of incidents:
Coordinating the investigation of potential risks across the Group
Reviewing patient records and all other relevant information generated through incident reporting
Collaborate with Group Risk Manager in identifying negative trends from incidents and make necessary recommendations for improving risk management processes and patient safety
In collaboration with the Group Risk Manager, develop systems to provide support to SHERQ and IPC officers across the Group
Compile detailed risk reports and inform relevant committees and legal bodies of incidents.
Ensure compliance to relevant laws and regulations pertaining to clinical risk management in nursing and hospitals
Provide advice (and where necessary draft relevant documentation) regarding CHG Standards, Policies and SOPs
Communicate with customers, service providers and professional organisations to keep abreast of industry or business trends
Perform regular site visits to build and maintain healthy relationships with the nursing fraternity, SHERQ and IPC officers
Manage stakeholder relationships and quality of service delivery to ensure successful overall business results
Participate in activities that improve and strengthen competency in the Groups clinical risk management system
Comply with cost controls in order to achieve section budget
Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and to streamline processes
Escalate potential risks that may lead to increased costs or financial losses.
Job requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
B Cur degree, Relevant management or risk management qualifications
3-5 years experience in Clinical Risk management
Extensive IPC and nursing knowledge is non-negotiable.
Legal / Professional registration required:
South African Nursing Council
