Job Description


Managed Talent Solutions, a division within Datacentrix is looking for a Cloud Migration Architect for one of their client based in Centurion. This is a 6 months fixed term contract. The Architect must at least 5 years experience in providing Cloud Architecture services as well as at least 2 successful Cloud Migration projects in the past 3 years.Qualifications/Certifications Required:

  • Matric plus Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or in any related field
  • CompTIA Cloud+
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • HPE ASE - Hybrid IT Solutions Architect V1
  • TOGAFxc2xae Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Hypervisor Certification (e.g., Hyper-V, VMWare etc)
Scope of WorkAssessment and Planning
Workload Analysis: Evaluate the workloads to be migrated in terms of their architecture, dependencies, data, and performance requirements.
Compatibility Check: Ensure the workloads are compatible with the HPE GreenLake environment, including software, services, and hardware.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the migration, including downtime, data loss, and security vulnerabilities.
Architecture Design
Hybrid Cloud Strategy: Develop a comprehensive strategy for integrating onpremises, cloud, and edge computing resources to align with business objectives.
Architecture Design: Design a scalable, resilient, and secure architecture that leverages both Azure Arc and HPE GreenLake Central to manage distributed infrastructure and applications effectively. This design is critical for achieving operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability in the cloud.
Infrastructure Design: Design the target architecture on HPE GreenLake, considering compute, storage, network, and security requirements.
Integration Planning: Plan for the integration of HPE GreenLake with existing systems and services, including on-premises and cloud-based resources.
Data Migration Strategy: Develop a strategy for data migration that minimizes downtime and data loss, considering the use of tools and services for data transfer.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop a standard for IaC considering tools like Ansible, Terraform, ARM templates, or HPE GreenLakes native tools to automate the deployment and management of resources across environments.
Container Orchestration: Develop a standard to manage Kubernetes clusters using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) on Azure Arc or container management solutions provided by HPE GreenLake, ensuring optimal deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
Data Services: Design and deploy data management solutions, such as Azure SQL Managed Instance or Azure Arc-enabled data services, or equivalent services on HPE GreenLake, ensuring data availability, security, and compliance.
Collaboration with DevOps Teams: Close co-operation with DevOps teams to ensure that the cloud infrastructure supports DevOps methodologies.
Security and Compliance
Security Architecture: Ensure that the hybrid cloud environment adheres to the organization's security policies and standards, incorporating identity and access management, data protections, and network security.
Compliance Verification: Verify that the migration and the new environment comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Compliance and Governance: Implement governance policies and practices to manage risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, leveraging Azure Policy, Azure Security Center, or similar capabilities within HPE GreenLake Central.
Implementation Planning
Migration Roadmap: Develop a detailed migration plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
Testing Strategy: Plan for comprehensive testing of the migrated workloads, including performance, security, and functionality testing.
Rollback Strategy: Prepare a contingency plan in case the migration needs to be reversed or issues arise post-migration.
Execution and Monitoring
Migration Execution: Oversee the migration process, ensuring adherence to the plan and addressing any issues that arise.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the workloads in the new environment, adjusting resources as necessary to meet performance goals.
Post-Migration Review: Conduct a post-migration review to assess the success of the migration, document lessons learned, and make recommendations for future improvements.
Monitoring and Management: Utilize Azure Arc or HPE GreenLake Central to monitor and manage the health, performance, and costs of resources across all environments, implementing logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
Cost Management and Optimization: Monitor and optimize resource utilization and costs, making use of cost management tools available in Azure or HPE GreenLake to ensure efficient operation of the hybrid cloud
environment.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Stakeholder Management: Keep all stakeholders informed about the migration process, timelines, and impacts.
Training and Support: Ensure that teams are trained on the new environment and that adequate support is available during and after the migration.
Knowledge Sharing and Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert on Azure Arc or HPE GreenLake Central, providing guidance and best practices to IT teams and helping to build internal competencies in managing hybrid cloud environments.
Documentation: Create comprehensive Cloud architecture documentation, including high-level and low-level designs, diagrams, and technical specifications.
Post-Implementation Support
Provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting assistance to address any issues or concerns that arise after the deployment of Cloud architecture solutions.
Conduct regular reviews and assessments of the implemented Cloud Architecture to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Collaborate with the operations team to develop and implement monitoring and maintenance procedures to ensure the ongoing performance and stability of the cloud infrastructure.
Respond to and resolve any incidents or problems related to the Cloud Architecture in a timely manner, minimizing disruption to business operations.
Continuously monitor Cloud performance metrics and conduct periodic performance assessments to ensure that the implemented architecture meets or exceeds the defined service levels.
Provide recommendations for enhancements and upgrades to the Cloud Architecture based on emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving business requirements.
