Job Description


As the Collections Manager, you will lead the development and execution of an effective debt collections strategy, ensuring timely recovery of outstanding debts and safeguarding the financial health of our clients loan services. Your role involves optimising collection processes, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and enhancing financial performance. You will also build and manage a dedicated Collections team to ensure exceptional customer interactions.Key Responsibilities:Debt Recovery:

  • Develop, implement, and manage collection strategies and targets.
  • Collaborate with various departments to align collection efforts with company goals.
  • Manage customer interactions, including negotiating payment plans, addressing disputes, and resolving issues.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyse collection data to track performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports on collection effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Risk Management:
  • Identify and mitigate risks, including potential legal issues, by developing and implementing risk management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and adjust strategies accordingly.
People Leadership:
  • Lead and guide the team, ensuring professional, respectful communication and compliance with policies.
  • Provide strong leadership, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Optimize team structures and workflows to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of team members.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through clear expectations, feedback, and growth opportunities.
  • Drive collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.

Skills and Experience Required:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in debt collections within Fintech, Banking, Financial Services, or a similar field, including 2 years of people management experience.
  • Proficiency in using collections software and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of South African regulations and compliance requirements, including the Debt Collections Act, National Credit Act (NCA), Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and the Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSRA).
