Job Description


Function: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Communication Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing effective communication strategies that enhance our organization's image and engage our stakeholders. This role demands a deep understanding of the South African media landscape, cultural nuances, and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences. Tasks will include: Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Design and execute comprehensive communication plans that align with organizational goals. Tailor communication strategies to the South African context, ensuring cultural and regional relevance. Content Creation and Media Produce, edit, and distribute high-quality content, newsletters, social media posts, and website content. Develop compelling stories and visuals that effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact. Proof and edit the e-WW and ensure the site is functional at all times. Monitoring of internet platforms for group and business unit media coverage, tenders, competitor news, etc. Develop news angles with service provider, liase with Group and Divisions for the publishing of articles and press release Group Advertising Come up with concepts for new corporate advertisements. Facilitate all divisional and business unit advertising as per company's advertising rules. Ensure all advertisements (print and on-line) material deadlines are met and correctly specd. Ensure divisional and business unit advertisements are compliant with the company's CI. Internal Communication: Develop internal communication strategies to ensure staff are informed and engaged. Manage internal communication channels, including newsletters, emails, and intranet content. Social Media Management: Create and implement social media strategies to increase engagement and brand awareness. Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and inquiries, and manage online reputation. Crisis Communication: Develop and implement crisis communication plans. Handle communication during emergencies or crises to protect the organizations reputation. Analytics and Reporting: Monitor, analyse, and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies. Use data and feedback to adjust and improve future communication efforts.
Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a communication role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication tools (e.g., social media platforms). Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Understanding of the South African media landscape and cultural context.
