Job Description


PURPOSE:
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for handling all internal communications, public relations, information output, and media requests. They may also be responsible for planning social media campaigns or advertising efforts for SEB. The successful incumbent will be responsible for promoting a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on the companys behalf both internally and externally.

  • GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Their duties will include developing a social media strategy, producing marketing communications material, and crafting mass media and internal staffing announcements. They should also plan press conferences, contribute to website content, and build a relationship with key stakeholders.
  • Assist the Exco with developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies to support environment shaping priorities. Support with executive readiness for internal and external engagements, including relevant public, industry and media events.
  • Design and deliver media events in support of commercial and organizational objectives.
  • Create opportunities and drive positive media coverage of SEB by developing and implementing an effective media relations strategy.
  • Engage with the leadership to deploy and operationalize the SEB narrative and key messaging on an ongoing basis (both internally and externally).
  • Develop content for, and oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of external communication campaigns that help shape SEBs narrative.
  • Create internal communication initiatives that will increase and support internal culture exposure to employees and foster a positive perception.
  • Engage with key cross-functional internal teams, stakeholders, third-party agencies, to manage campaigns from start to finish to ensure expectations are managed across the board and deadlines are met.
  • Plan monthly content themes for internal communications (including newsletters, videos, internal branding, surveys, campaigns etc) to drive a consistent message to employees.
  • Input ideas for new and existing internal campaigns and take ownership of their development and implementation.
  • Daily management of all internal and external campaign.
  • Extract trends from data to ensure improvement of processes and or customer satisfaction. (This could be in the form of innovative ideas as well as the task of compiling reports).
  • Should be able to ensure strong stake holder management ito Communication ie. feedback to clients, managing clients, responding to clients, attend to queries timeously.
  • Have the ability to innovate in the role.
Responsibilities:
  • Be able to build internal and external networks to facilitate message delivery and communicate effectively with all types of audiences.
  • Advise, coach and work well with senior leaders of the organisation.
  • Managing internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.).
  • Drafting content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or company website.
  • Develop effective corporate communication strategies.
  • Organize initiatives and plan events.
  • Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements etc.
  • Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce copy for advertisements or articles.
  • Perform damage control in cases of bad publicity.
  • Manage internal and external complaints board . Pick up trends and guide the COO re. solutions to mitigate risks to the Company.
  • Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership.
  • Compile research briefs.
  • Responsible for the design, development and execution of Direct Marketing & Lead Campaigns.
  • Conceptualisation and execution of marketing events.
  • Monitors marketing business environment and competitor activities and offerings.
  • Gathers information on local and international market trends for relevant product set.
  • Interacts with the market to gain information.
  • Identifies new business sales opportunities and builds them into marketing messages.
  • Develops understanding of business segments utilising research data and any other data sources available.
  • Identifies, builds relationships and interfaces with internal and external resources.
  • Design, build and maintain our social media presence.
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
Competencies required:
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and a well-structured thought process.
  • Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Be proficient at identifying and responding to reputation and brand opportunities in both the traditional media and social media spaces.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with advanced business presentation skills.
  • Strong networking skills including strong relationships with the media and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Proven experience as communications specialist.
  • Experience in web design and content production is a plus.
  • Experience in copywriting and editing.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficient command of English.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Communications or related degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Employee Retirement Fund industry experience is advantageous.
