To mobilize sex workers by identifying and mapping sex worker hotspots in the Ekurhuleni Health District
Track and trace sex workers receiving anti-retroviral therapy (ART) to promote continuity of care
Strengthen collaborations with community stakeholders to improve HIV treatment continuity in identified health facilities
Location:
Makhado, Vhembe District, Limpopo
Key performance areas:
Conduct sex worker hotspot mapping and site profiling
Conduct community dialogues with sex workers
Plan and implement health awareness events and campaigns, in collaboration with the outreach team, DOH, and partners
Help evaluate the community mobilization process
Liaise with sub-partners and other community-based organizations to ensure timely interventions for human rights and gender-based violence violations
Engage with Department of Health (DoH) community health centers, the Department of Social Development, and South African Police Services to change negative attitudes toward sex workers and raise awareness of the need for services for sex workers
Support the monitoring and evaluation team to measure the coverage and impact of community outreach services
Provide HIV Testing Services (HTS) as per DoH policy guidelines and protocol
Provide accurate health information to sex workers, especially on HIV/AIDS, PrEP, STIs, TB, and contraception as well as promote healthy behaviors
Link HIV-positive sex workers to care, and track and trace sex workers in care
Provide ART adherence support and follow-up
Provide psychosocial support, referral, and follow-up
Provide accurate human rights information to sex workers
Plan and facilitate Risk Reduction/Creative Space Workshops
Supervise Community Health Workers and Peer Educator Team Leaders during outreach activities
Contribute to the compilation of monthly and quarterly reports for management and donors on community engagement
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
Take ownership of driving your career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as forums, conferences, policy-setting workshops, etc.
Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12
Valid driver's license
Fluent in English and other African languages
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in community health development programs
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Tertiary Diploma or Degree in any relevant field including health, education, public relations, or marketing
Certificate in HIV Management
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, electronic data collection
Experience with community engagement and marketing new services
Ability to manage own time
Adaptable, approachable, empathetic, and willing to take initiative
Good communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to network with various stakeholders
Able to work independently and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
