Working in a team, to establish and co- ordinate clinical and community placements of medical students. To work with administrative support structures to ensure transport and the logistics of community and clinical placements is achieved. To be involved with learning and teaching of medical students in the relevant modules on the community platform.KEYPERFORMANCEAREAS

  • To maintain the community healthcare platforms affiliated to the medical school.
  • To manage and coordinate the Clinical and Community placements of medical students in the modules Theory and Practice of Medicine and Clinical Skills and Reasoning.
  • To assist with learning and teaching of students in Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Public Health, Communication skills and Clinical skills in the Medical School Program, inclusive of campus as well as community settings.
  • To assess students, including formative and summative assessment.
  • To provide timeous academic and related support to students.
  • To be involved in research activities of the Medical School of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

  • Application and facilitation of diverse teaching and learning methodologies for Comprehensive
Primary Health Care, Public Health, Communication skills and Clinical skills to Medical and Health Science students.
  • Ability to provide oversight to ensure that assessments are quality-controlled and standardized, and that learning materials and equipment are in place.
  • Ability to actively engage with students and provide a student-focused learning approach.
  • Knowledge of research theory and applications in Primary Health Care.
  • MSWord, PowerPoint and Excel skills and the willingness to learn internal software programs.
REQUIREMENTSEducationRelevant M+5 qualificationPost-graduate degree/diploma in Nursing Education Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse Registered with SANC as a Nurse EducatorExperience
  • At least 5 years clinical experience in Primary or Public Healthcare Nursing
  • One to three years teaching or related work experience
  • Code 8 drivers license
  • Proficiency in the three official languages of the Eastern Cape
