Aurum will be pursuing USAIDs Gauteng Provincial Care and Treatment Activity. The goal of the Activity is to support long, healthy lives for the population of Gauteng Province by achieving and sustaining HIV/TB epidemic control. USAID aims to reach this goal by achieving the following strategic objectives:(1) Close the gaps to HIV epidemic control.(2) Sustain health gains through strengthened, improved, and resilient health systems; and(3) Leverage community, civil society, traditional structures, and private sector partnerships to improve and sustain service delivery and client outcomes.Aurum is seeking an expert in community stakeholder liaison and community-based HIV/TB support services to guide and lead activities leveraging community structures (including Traditional Health Practitioners), civil society, PLHIV-led organizations, and private sector partnerships to improve service delivery and client outcomes and to address the social determinants of health that support client retention in care. S/he will ensure a high quality of community-based services and seamless linkage with health facilities for improved continuity of care.The role will report directly to the project Chief of Party, and will be based in Gauteng ProvinceResponsibilities:

  • A seasoned expert in the field with an experience and understanding of working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including NGO partners and Government Institutions of South Africa at all levels.
  • Understanding of the South Africa Health care delivery system, the dynamics, and complexities of different levels of the health system.
  • To improve case finding and advocacy for access to offered package of services by expanding access to traditional and non-traditional facility- and community based and providing innovative platforms for engaging and access to care.
  • Strengthening support networks for community-based services, e.g. HTS for priority populations with age-appropriate and targeted approaches for children, AGYW and men (e.g., targeted home-based testing, mobile testing, self-screening, index testing for
  • Leverage other critical entry points for HIV case finding (e.g., HIV testing services for rape survivors, integrated HIV and TB case finding in communities.
  • Strengthen referrals from HIV testing points to HIV care and treatment.
  • Support health information systems to improve referral and tracking of HIV/TB cases in the community.
  • Expand workplace testing to reach more men.
  • Support COP with coordination and managing of local demand creation and community partners that Aurum may partner with in Gauteng.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A tertiary degree in Public Health, Social Work, Health Administration or Business administration with a focus on public health, behavioural and social sciences, social work, or related field.
  • An honours and master's degree will be additional advantage to the programme.
  • A minimum seven years experience with progressively increasing responsibility in designing, implementing, and managing large development activities involving multiple partners.
  • Three to five years experience supporting the management of international donor-funded health programs, preferably PEPFAR specific.
  • Demonstrated specialized knowledge and expertise in designing and implementing HIV community support service delivery activities in developing countries.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience of the health care delivery system, the linkages between facility and community, and the network of community-based civil society organizations in South Africa, preferably in Gauteng Province.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with senior government officials, dignitaries, executives of NGOs, FBOs, CBOs, the for-profit business community, and senior members of the donor community.
  • Demonstrated written, presentation and communication skills in English.
  • Must speak the dominant local language.
