Your expertise will be vital in:

  • Championing FICA Compliance:
  • Collaborate with the Head of FICA Compliance to seamlessly integrate risk management and compliance requirements, becoming a go-to resource for staff queries.
  • Leading the Charge Against Money Laundering:
  • Act as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), investigating suspicious activity, determining reportability, and filing SARs when necessary.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement:
  • Enhance the Risk Management and Compliance Program (RMCP) by developing and refining key processes.
  • Navigating the Regulatory Landscape:
  • Contribute to the implementation of new and evolving regulations, ensuring practices remain cutting-edge.
  • Protecting Business:
  • Conduct thorough AML due diligence on third-party entities, including offshore entities, and expertly manage AML questionnaires.
  • Shaping Compliance Framework:
  • Contribute to the development and review of the due diligence questionnaires, policies, processes, and RMCP documentation.
  • Empowering Through Training:
  • Deliver engaging regulatory training on FICA and other critical compliance topics, addressing knowledge gaps and fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Proactive Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring reviews, track corrective actions, and prepare comprehensive reports to ensure adherence to regulations, including the Insurance Act, Long-Term Insurance Act, Income Tax Act, and Companies Act.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, providing expert guidance and support on compliance matters.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • A legal degree and a deep understanding of FICA, ML/TF control regulations, and FIC guidance notes are essential.
  • 5+ years of compliance-specific experience within the financial services industry (insurance background preferred).
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, conduct monitoring, deliver training, and contribute to policy development.
  • Process-driven, detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding team environment, demonstrating resilience and a collaborative approach.
Advantageous:
  • Knowledge of the Insurance Act, Long-Term Insurance Act, FAIS Act, and Pension Funds Act.
  • Understanding of FATCA and CRS.
  • Experience with diverse organizational structures (non-profits, foundations, SOEs, offshore entities, etc.).
  • Membership with the Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA).
