Job Description


Our Client based in the Eastern Cape is recruiting for a Construction Manager who will oversee and manage all phases of construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, managing construction teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning and Coordination

  • Develop project plans, including defining scope, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other construction specialists.
  • Conduct site evaluations and feasibility studies.
  • Manage procurement processes, including selecting and negotiating with contractors and suppliers.
Construction Oversight
  • Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure projects are executed as per design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective measures. - Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Manage and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction.
Team Management
  • Lead and manage construction teams, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate training and development for construction personnel.
4Budget and Cost Control
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control measures are in place.
  • Track expenses and ensure financial efficiency.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and other financial documents related to construction projects.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and building codes.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses. - Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies as required.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, including status updates, financial reports, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation, including contracts, plans, and correspondence.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor''''s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master''''s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCM) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on civil engineering projects.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations. - Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Proficient in construction management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
Environment
  • Primarily on construction sites, with some office work.
Travel:
  • Regular travel to project sites may be required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing, walking, and working in various weather conditions.
