This may involve proposal writing, data analyses, helping to draft research reports, preparing results for presentation, and making sure that final deliverables have a professional look and feel. You will be an integral member of an economics team specialising in competition economics, providing important input into projects within different sectors. Team members will rely on you for accuracy, critical thinking and attention to detail, and in return you will get a front row seat to exciting developments in South Africas economic policy and competition environment.What Youll Do

  • Conduct economic research
  • Prepare draft economic reports and presentations
  • Perform data analysis and economic modelling
  • Be a team member on engagements
  • Help ensure that client needs are met within specified timelines
  • Attend meetings and liaise with clients when requested
  • Contribute to business development through providing support on proposals
  • Stay up to date with developments in South Africas policy and business environment

  • You will grow your skills through day-to-day interaction with your colleagues and clients, receiving continuous feedback on your work whilst sharing knowledge, insights and shared experiences.
  • Your direct line manager will have responsibility for your growth and development and will conduct frequent check-ins and bi-annual reviews
  • You will participate in FTI Consultings learning and development initiatives which cover multiple areas, including training on financial metrics, presentation delivery and building your understanding of the media
  • FTI also runs a mentoring programme which will afford the opportunity to learn first-hand from FTIs senior leadership

#LI-RT1#LI-HybridWhat You Will Need to SucceedWe are looking for a proactive, efficient and energetic new colleague with at least a Masters degree in a relevant field, who is ready to support busy teams across a variety of client engagements. A high level of flexibility and ability to build trust within teams and managers is essential.Basic Qualifications
  • Strong interest in South Africas policy environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet client deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team as well as to do independent research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong quantitative skills and attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Experience in using statistical packages such as Stata, R and E-Views will be advantageous
  • Experience in Competition Economics / Industrial Organisation will be advantageous
  • Strong work ethic and integrity and high level of professionalism.
