Reporting: Regional Supply Chain Lead - Copper Africa
This role is responsible to ensure a legal framework of rules, relationships, systems and processes facilitating the mitigation of all risks faced by the organization.
To ensure compliance to business processes, procedures, governance, and laws applicable in the jurisdictions of the various Copper Business Units are always adhered to.
PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mitigate organizational risks in support of the achievement of strategic financial risks
Contribute to the effective achievement of functional budgetary constraints and effecting savings where possible.
Draft, update and implement company policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Drafting and vetting of appropriate procurement and other agreements in line with various jurisdictions' legal and regulatory requirements.
Negotiate and facilitate agreement terms and conditions with internal and external stakeholders in the various Copper BU's.
Vetting of Approval for Contract (AFC) and other tender related documentation.
Facilitate executive approval and authorization of agreements with external parties.
Facilitate internal legal and contract related awareness and training interventions.
Support the drafting of scope of work, contract schedules and compliance with tender and agreement processes.
Direct and support contract management and record retention with respective contract managers.
Draft, establish and vet all legal correspondence in the company.
Provide high levels of support and advice to all internal customers on legal and risk mitigating aspects affecting the company.
Advise on the drafting and vetting of SLAs between the various business units.
Responsible for own development and updating of developments in field of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: NQF 7 qualification in Law
Advantageous: NQF 8 qualification in Law
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
4 - 6 years working experience in a corporate environment.
Specific experience with regards to risk and related contracts.
Experience working in mining or mining related operations and projects environment.
Experience in sub-Saharan Africa
Multi-tasking and excellent management of time and priorities is essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that work effectively across different audiences and levels in the business.
Demonstrated, well-developed judgment and problem-solving skills
Pro- active, committed and highly motivated
Strong negotiating skills
Independent, flexible and entrepreneurial
Takes initiative and invest energy to resolve queries and take action as needed

Computer literate
Fluency in English orally and in writing
