What You Have Done Before
At least 10 years' retail operations experience within mainstream retail with 8 of these linked to a mainstream retailer
NQF level 7 (Degree/Advanced Diploma with specialization Retail, Business Management or)
Understanding of effective space utilization coupled with analytical skills
Deep knowledge of retail principles and merchandising & experience working within retail operation store environments
Regional management experience (Direct Management of Store Leaders and overall store operations)
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively cross-functionally, including senior management, project team and other departments within the organization
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a pressurized environment
Advantageous:
Ability to work successfully in an ever-changing environment and navigate ambiguity
What You Will Be Doing
Functional Expertise & Leadership: Store operations and in-store execution
Interpreting the Engen non fuel strategy and how this translates into store implementation, shop keeping and presentation standards
Strategic partner to Sales Operations teams and leader to Convenience operations specialists
Identify and improve standards of store presentation and implement/conduct training modules/briefs to ensure skills transfer to Sales and convenience operations teams
Leading Quickshop Initiatives/Project Management
Direct tactical and strategic initiatives/projects including the development of comprehensive implementation briefs, launch plans, new stores and tracking/reporting of success criteria in conjunction with National Visual manager/Real estate integration manager
Drive shop keeping operational standards across the network
Drive operational convenience initiatives to point of resolution
Possesses the expert knowledge and experience within 'food' retail in order to drive the vision of becoming an authentic convenience business
To identify retail industry trends and opportunities for change and the ability to convey the need for change and gain buy-in from key stakeholders
Builds expert knowledge across direct reports and the dealer network and conveys knowledge to others
