JOB DESCRIPTION INFORMATION:Job Title: Copywriter
Employment Type: Permanent, On-site
Work Location: Church St, Cape Town - CBDQUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:Qualification:

  • 3 Year Bachelors Degree preferably in marketing, communication, English or journalism
  • Copywriting certification.
Experience:
  • 3-5 years experience working as a copywriter across a range of communication platforms.
  • A proven track record of success producing digital content.
Work conditions and special requirements
  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • Must be willing to be hands on in some areas of implementation especially when it comes to quality review.
CORE FUNCTIONS:Deliverable 1: Facilitated Content Creation
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to receive and prioritise briefs and promotional requests and business; and deliver each element of the campaign to brief.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current and future content within and external to the organization.
  • Understand market segment and customers characteristics and online preferences.
  • Develop plans for generating meaningful content to drive increased traffic, engagement, and brand visibility in line with business requirements.
  • Conceptualise and plan for content storylines on various communication channels.
  • Construct the conceptual plan, concept, storyline, and layout for solutions, ensuring content remains fresh and exciting.
  • Liaise with business with regard to concepts, ideas, deadlines, and promotional requirements.
  • Brainstorm, design and deliver content in written form.
  • Brief, manage, craft, and monitor all elements of every project from presentation through to completion.
  • Brief electronic, print and activation production to ensure idea is executed and delivered to its best potential.
  • Brief and give constructive input during a shoot and/or recording and direct voices, VO artists, musicians, directors to ensure that the idea is delivered in its best form.
  • Correspond with stakeholders and clients to obtain feedback and approvals on final content.
  • Be an ideas bank of new innovation and concepts to be used as a foundation for content for various online channels in line with business requirements.
  • Participates in content meetings, creative briefings, brainstorm sessions and status meetings.
  • Provides updates and constructive feedback to Creative Management on all significant developments on ongoing projects to ensure accuracy and timeous delivery.
  • Sources relevant images.
  • Works with design team to ensure that the copy and design work together seamlessly.
Deliverable 2: Copywriting
  • Produce general copywriting to support designs and marketing content including:
  • Promotional content: gaming promotions, events, advert banners, accommodation special offers, experience special offers and wine and dine special offers.
  • Promotional copy for the business emails.
  • Promotional and enticing copy for advertising campaigns.
  • Develop, create, and deploy content across multi-touch point communications.
  • Schedules and updates relevant content on various platforms ensuring that content remains innovative and fresh.
Deliverable 3: Stakeholder engagement
  • Establish appropriate levels of co-ordination, communication, and liaison with stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the business and marketing on content produced for designed promotional and events content.
  • Maintain regular communication with the marketing services team and management on project development, timelines, and results.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure the integration and synergy of specific content for various projects and design work.
  • Verify with business management that the content will meet business requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with commercial/brand/technical teams and content designers.
Key Stakeholders:
  • Internal: Marketing Team, Central Marketing Team; Brand, PR, Content Team.
  • External: Freelance content creators (copywriters, designers, and video); musicians, artists; audio technicians and media.
Scope and limits of the job:
  • Create and edit content for print and digital designs for multiple communication touchpoints.
  • Accountable to control expenses against a predefined budget.
COMPETENCIESTechnical proficiency:
  • Excellent copywriting and writing skills adaptable in the tone of each brand.
  • Ability to write, proofread and edit accurate, concise, and highly readable content.
  • Understand brand identity.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas, coupled with sound editorial judgement.
  • MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exposure / knowledge of the hotel and gaming industry is a strong advantage.
  • Dynamic presentation skills.
  • Embrace and understand diversity.
Know-how:
  • Requires specialised knowledge of copywriting and editing techniques, and processes relating to the development of written and print content.
  • Short term planning within a 3-month timeframe.
  • Organise, plan, and prioritise tasks for self to ensure that work gets done efficiently and within budget constraints.
  • Interact with management across business units to influence and encourage specific behaviour.
Problem-solving:
  • Deal with diverse problems in own area, using judgment and discretion to resolve them.
  • Interprets customer requirements in terms of services available and the applicable constraints.
  • Takes initiative in making decisions which are made within well-defined, somewhat diversified procedures and limits of authority.
  • Considers all the facts, options, and possible outcomes prior to making decisions.
  • Analyse and diagnose issues and challenges and offer a solution in line with technical knowledge.
Accountability:
  • Solve a wide range of queries related to service, dealing with these sensitively and within operational/procedural limitations.
  • Interprets customer requirements in terms of services available and facilitates operational processes.
  • Refers problems falling outside parameters to the manager for resolution.
