Job Description


Together with our client, a manufacturing company in Centurion, we are recruiting a Cost Production Accountant (CPA) to Prepare monthly financial reports, ensuring overall objective of profit improvement & efficiency enhancement as well as ensuring that the company is compliant as per IFRS, Legal & Statutory requirements. The Ideal Candidate needs to have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in a Finance and accounting environment and must hold a BCom Accounting Degree.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of job:

  • To ensure that the reporting data is accurate & on time in order to meet the group reporting
  • To be compliant i.e. statutory & legal requirements.
  • To analyse the data provided in order to make proper financial decisions.
  • To identify variances & put in place preventive controls.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assist internal staff i.r.o all financial requirements and requests.
  • Provisional/recurring and adjustment of journals.
  • Prepare and manage provisions and accruals for the site.
  • Maintain and control the critical stock levels.
  • Maintain and control all consumable stock items
  • Reliable and accurate inventory reconciliation for both FG and consumables. Controlled on a monthly basis
  • Report on any deviation on financial matters to the Mine Manager, Operations Manager and Senior finance team.
  • Identify variances and implement preventive controls.
  • Verification of fixed assets.
  • Analysing the Income Statements and other financial reports (Technical & External Services).
  • Cost Control and implement cost reduction measures.
  • Handling queries pertaining to expenses.
  • Prepare and submit on time daily, weekly and month-end reports as required by Site and Head Office.
  • Assist in budget preparation.
  • Execute Ad-hoc requests and duties from management.
  • Assist during annual audits, both internal & external audits.
  • Manage site administrator, storeman, mine driver, and their activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policy and processes.
  • Assist with Stock Counts and processing on system
  • Manage vehicle licensing process.
  • Participate in weekly Site HODs meetings.
  • Flash Report on a weekly basis and to be discussed with the Mine Manager.
  • FG and Consumable stock adjustment.
  • Creation of new item codes for FG and consumables.
  • Processing various journals & Compiling of backup when processing reversal journal.
  • Generate month end reports and analyse and explain variances (Act Vs Budget) (Technical, External Services, Provision & HM).
  • Stock reconciliation for FG and Consumables items (Variance must be signed off by Operations Manager and Financial controller before adjusting variances).
  • Petty Cash Management
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by Management
Job Specifications- Qualifications; Experience; Knowledge, skills and attributes:
  • BCom Accounting Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience
  • Computer knowledge of MS Office and ACCPAC
  • Previous experience within the mining industry preferred
  • Unendorsed drivers licence, travelling is required for this position
  • Sound knowledge of processes, IFRS
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
Salary: R 35 000.00 - R 40 000.00 CTC per month
