Job Description


Purpose: As a Credit Analyst, your primary responsibility is to evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of businesses applying for loans. Utilizing scorecard models, financial analysis, and robust risk management practices, you will make informed credit decisions. Balancing credit risk management with business growth objectives is crucial, ensuring support for deserving businesses while safeguarding company interests. Meeting and exceeding SLA requirements for service delivery excellence is paramount, enhancing client satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to scorecard model development and shaping the company's credit risk management strategy.Responsibilities:Credit Assessment:

  • Review and analyse credit applications to assess creditworthiness based on scorecard models and established risk criteria.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including examination of financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data sources.
  • Evaluate risk factors associated with each application, determining appropriate credit limits, interest rates, and terms.
Loan Origination Process:
  • Ensure strict adherence to credit policies and processes to maintain regulatory compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Continuously refine credit granting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce turnaround times while aligning with risk appetite.
  • Facilitate alignment among reviewers and analysts through quality reviews, feedback, and comprehensive training initiatives.
Monitoring:
  • Monitor the performance of existing loans in the portfolio, contributing to monthly credit reporting on portfolio quality, delinquencies, and credit risk exposure.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of defaulted loans to identify trends and refine credit criteria.
  • Ensure rigorous quality monitoring to maintain compliance with credit policies and processes.
Onboarding of New Reviewers:
  • Design and maintain a comprehensive training induction program for new Reviewers.
  • Oversee onboarding processes and provide ongoing training and support to ensure adherence to review processes and standards.
  • Update training manuals to reflect current practices and information.
Training:
  • Contribute to monthly workshops aimed at knowledge exchange and feedback between Analyst and Reviewer teams.
  • Ensure continuous financial upskilling of team members to maintain high expertise levels.
  • Manage administrative aspects of training, including maintaining registers and updating manuals.
General:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technologies in credit risk management, sharing knowledge within the team.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives, including refining credit scoring models and enhancing data analytics capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize credit processes and strategies.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach in managing credit-related inquiries and supporting stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Honours degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Preferred: SAICA / CIMA (on route to CA(SA))
Minimum Work Experience:
  • 2-3 years of experience in financial services or lending industry.
Technical/Business Competence:
  • Financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and key financial ratios.
  • Critical thinking and risk assessment through data analysis.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills for effective documentation.
  • Proficiency in Excel and credit risk management software.
Behavioural Competence:
