Job SummaryRole Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Credit Analyst with a strong background in project and corporate finance. This position offers a unique opportunity to manage the full credit lifecycle, from loan origination through to repayment, and where necessary, handover to the restructuring team. The role demands a proactive, hands-on approach, encompassing financial modeling, credit ratings, due diligence, and close collaboration with senior stakeholders.Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Credit Analyst is integral in safeguarding the organization's credit quality by identifying, measuring, mitigating, and monitoring credit risks. This will involve conducting thorough credit risk analyses to evaluate clients' financial health, repayment capabilities, and compliance with lending conditions throughout the term of the credit relationship.Key Responsibilities:

  • Loan Origination and Monitoring: Oversee the complete credit process, from initial approval through ongoing monitoring to final repayment.
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Develop and interpret complex financial models to support robust credit decisions.
  • Credit Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive credit analysis, including ratings assessments and detailed due diligence.
  • Credit Committee Presentations: Present your analysis and recommendations to the credit committee, which includes Executive Committee members.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders to drive decision-making processes.
  • Travel Requirements: The role requires travel within South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. A valid passport is mandatory.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experience: Demonstrated expertise in project finance or corporate finance
  • Attributes: Sharp, assertive, and analytically minded with the ability to navigate and interpret complex financial data.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering.
  • 3 years of post-Articles experience in wholesale credit risk management, corporate or investment banking, or a similar field with strong analytical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of both private sector (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and public sector (e.g., GRAP, IAS, IFRS, King IV, MFMA, PFMA) financial reporting standards, as well as cost accounting, financial analysis, auditing, and the Companies Act.
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, banking, and the municipal operating environment.
  • Proven experience in analyzing, interpreting, and integrating financial data into credit rating models.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced level), and experience with quantitative and qualitative credit rating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed credit evaluations and debt sustainability analyses, and deliver high-quality reports for decision-making.
  • Proven track record in managing multiple deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Knowledge of financial structuring and conducting business in Africa will be a significant advantage.
  • An Honors degree in Finance or Accounting, CA(SA), or professional certifications such as GARP CFA, FRM, CFI FMVA, or CBSA would be an added advantage.
