Job Description


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to engage clients and consultant teams effectively.
  • Support projects during the tender process as a solution engineer or part of the solutions team.
  • Cultivate local resources to bolster the DC facility business.
  • Advocate and present Huawei DC solutions while managing client relationships.
  • Integrate design requirements from various stakeholders to compile bid High Level Designs (HLD), encompassing mechanical systems and infrastructure components.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical infrastructure design-&-build RFPs.
  • Create and maintain project documentation throughout the construction process.
  • Summarize project costs and generate valuation models, leading initiatives to enhance cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
  • Oversee external architectural and mechanical design consultants.
  • Provide comprehensive support for project management, subcontractor selection and management, supply chain, procurement, and process management.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Matric (Grade 12) qualification required.
  • Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering essential.
  • Professional registration preferred.
  • IT/ICT or business-related qualification advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years'' mechanical engineering experience, preferably in data center, mission-critical, or industrial projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years'' experience in a consulting engineering firm.
  • Minimum of 2 large-scale (1 megawatt or more) Data Center project design or build experience.
  • Proficiency in HVAC, fire systems, plumbing, drainage systems, and other mechanical engineering aspects.
  • Strong awareness of industry standards and emerging technologies related to Data Center facilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, Revit, and industry-standard mechanical modeling software.
  • Ability to think innovatively to find cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or reliability.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards in the Southern Africa region.
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and high-quality standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and travel internationally as needed.
