This commitment to technological innovation manifests at every research phase, whether it's leveraging satellite imagery for sampling, deploying automated quality alerts to fieldworkers via chat platforms, or executing real-time transcripts and preliminary analyses of in-depth interviews.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYGenesis Primary Data Intelligence (PDI) is recruiting Data Clerks to assist with handling research samples and data collection forms for the Enhanced Antenatal HIV Sentinel Survey (ANCHSS 2025) and the HIV Recency and Repeat Testers Survey at the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The roles are based at the NICD in Johannesburg, with one role available on site in Durban.ANCHSS 2025 aims to track the UNAIDS fast-track targets among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) (15-24 years) and reproductive age women (15-49 years), particularly focusing on the targets set for 2021-2026 on the latest global AIDS strategy. This includes estimating (before and during pregnancy) the coverage of HIV testing, antiretroviral therapy (ART), viral suppression, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) services. The HIV Recency and Repeat Testers study aims to assess the acceptability and feasibility of integrating laboratory-based HIV recency tests into routine HTS in public sector health facilities located in the three District in KwaZulu-Natal, to estimate the proportion of recent infections among newly diagnosed PLHIV using recent infection testing algorithms (RITAs), and to describe among patients presenting for HIV testing, demographic and health service-related factors associated with previous HIV testing/diagnosis history, and recent and long-term testing on the RITA.The expected responsibilities of the Data Clerk can include the following, which may differ depending on area of allocation:? Manage receipt of study specimens and data collection forms, and ensure these are all matched and accounted for.
? Check data collection forms for completeness or discrepancies.
? Capture sample information on laboratory information systems.
? Centrifuge samples and store in racks in preparation for laboratory testing.
? Scan data collection forms.
? Review scanned forms to ensure forms are captured correctly.
? Some manual data entry may be required for forms that cannot be scanned.
? Ensures basic housekeeping in own working area, including suitable cleaning and preparation of equipment according to set standard operating procedures.
? Some overtime work may be required.The advertised role is based on site and there is no option for remote working. A number of roles are based at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in Sandringham, Johannesburg, Gauteng. There is also one role available at the National Health Laboratory Service laboratory in the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.Important note: While the candidates will be contracted through Genesis, this opporutnity is tied to a specific client and project.You are likely to have:? Must have an NQF 5 or 6 qualification or Bachelor's degree; a certified laboratory assistant would be an advantage.?
