Closing Date: 30/10/2024The AME (Africa & the Middle East) Analytics Hub is a business-led, value driven satellite hub of Heineken's Global Analytics team whose mission is to lead Heineken into becoming a data-driven company and the best-connected brewer. The AME Data Science Chapter aims to achieve this by utilising data science to solve business problems at scale to deliver tangible value across the AME region.We are looking for a Junior/Mid-level Data Scientist to support this vision and strategy. This is a high-impact role that will help in adding value through supporting Heineken's strategic goals. We position ourselves as a business partner driving value-creating decisions and building trust in our solutions.Key Requirements:Support data-driven decision-making by analyzing data and providing actionable insights and recommendations.Identify and apply appropriate analytics and machine learning techniques to solve business problems under the guidance of senior team members.Assist in the design and implementation of machine learning models and data pipelines for various projects.Adopt good software development practices, including writing clean, maintainable code and performing unit testing to ensure the reliability of solutions.Contribute to the design and execution of experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of data-driven solutions in real-world scenarios.Collaborate with team members on projects, participating in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions to enhance collective expertise.Manage individual project tasks from data collection and preprocessing to model development and evaluation, ensuring timely delivery.Follow established standards and processes within the data science team to maintain consistency and quality in deliverables.Work closely with cross-functional partners such as engineering, analytics, and product management teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.Communicate findings and model outcomes effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and reports.Education and Experience:Relevant bachelor's degreeMinimum of 5 years relevant experience in data science.Eager to learn and continuously improve, demonstrating a strong ability to quickly grasp new concepts, tools, and methodologies to enhance your contributions and grow within the role.Collaborative and thrive in team settings.Proficient in data science fundamentals with a solid understanding of statistical methods and data analysis techniquesProficient in Python and PySpark.Able to align business problems with data science solutions and suggest experimentation and implementation strategies.Skilled in SQL and familiar with distributed data stores like Hive and Spark.Impact-driven, pragmatic, and able to incorporate business context into data questions.Proactive and take ownership of tasks, actively managing your work and contributing to project success.Strong at communication, capable of conveying technical content to non-technical audiences.Plus: Familiar with Databricks.Plus: Familiar with software engineering practices, unit testing, and version control.The Company's approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
