Our client based in Sandton is looking for a Data steward to join their team. 12 month contract renewableKey Responsibilities:

• Facilitate Data Problem Resolution: Act as a bridge between source systems, system owners, integrators, business owners, product owners, and reporting specialists to resolve data issues.
• SQL Proficiency: Utilize advanced SQL skills to access, troubleshoot, and analyse data to resolve problem statements using sample data.
• Ab Initio Proficiency: Understand and interrogate Ab Initio processes, lineage, and data architecture without being required to perform engineering or metadata tasks.
• Architecture Understanding: Gain a deep understanding of data architecture to play a key role in resolving data issues.
• Stakeholder Communication: Engage with various levels of the business, from developers to business stakeholders, to manage expectations and communicate problems early.
• Problem-Solving: Delve into raw data to understand data flows, integration points, and metadata issues.
• Business Aptitude: Work effectively with business stakeholders, manage expectations, and ensure smooth communication and resolution of data issues.

• Financial Services Background: Previous experience in the financial services industry.
• Advanced SQL Skills: Proven ability to write complex SQL queries and troubleshoot data-related issues.
• Ab Initio Knowledge: Understanding of Ab Initio or similar data processing platforms, specifically the Method Data Hub, including nodes, graphs, lineage, and data stitching.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organization, manage expectations, and address issues promptly.
• Problem-Solving Capability: Strong analytical skills to solve complex data problems and understand data integration processes.
• Aptitude and Attitude: Ability to work with business stakeholders, manage expectations, and maintain a professional demeanour.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a data steward or data analyst role.
• Knowledge of data governance and data management best practices.
