Title Database Administrator and Initiative LeadTo stabilise and optimise the database environment by introducing redundancy, automation, and access control measures that reduce downtime and improve platform performance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct assessment and design for high availability and redundancy within the SQL Server environmentAutomate critical database maintenance operations including indexing, patching, and backupsIdentify applications causing strain on the database and recommend architectural redesignsAudit and remediate direct external access to production databasesWork with development, architecture, and security teams to ensure compliance and performanceQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:Educational Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relatedMicrosoft SQL Server certifications preferred (e.g., MCSA, MCSE)Years of Experience:5+ years in DBA roles within enterprise environmentsOther requirements:Expertise in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutionsFamiliarity with data governance, auditing, and secure access controlsExperience with automation tools like PowerShell, SQL Agent Jobs, or Azure AutomationProficient in SQL performance tuning and root cause analysisBehavioural CompetenciesThe incumbent is required to have demonstrated the following competencies:Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in database management, including backups, security, and performance tuning Problem-Solving: Quickly diagnosing and resolving database issues to maintain system integrity and performance Communication Skills: Effectively conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders and collaborating with IT teams Adaptability: Staying current with evolving database technologies and adjusting to new methodologies and business needs Analytical Thinking: Analyzing complex data requirements and optimizing database performance Integrity and Ethics: Upholding high ethical standards and ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data Team Collaboration: Working effectively with other IT professionals to ensure comprehensive database management Meticulous attention to detail and data integrity.
