SUMMARY:
-POSITION INFO:We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa..Responsibilities:

• Database Standards and Best Practices: Develop, implement, and maintain database standards and best practices aligned with industry standards and company policies.
• Database Administration: Install, configure, and administer SQL Server databases on-premises and in Azure cloud environments.
• Performance Optimisation: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimisation strategies to ensure optimal performance.
• Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and execute comprehensive backup and recovery plans to minimise data loss and ensure business continuity.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, providing timely support to development teams.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams to ensure database designs align with application requirements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience administering SQL Server databases in complex environments (on-premises and Azure).
• Deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, features, and performance tuning techniques.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server.
• Knowledge of data migration tools and techniques
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
