Demand Creation Officer will be responsible for supporting the social and community mobilization activities of the project which contribute to project implementation. To this extent, Officers are expected to:
Identify young people (in particular adolescent girls and young women) in implementation areas and communities where the mobile clinic is providing sexual and reproductive health and HIV prevention services, to whom such service delivery is acceptable and who would benefit from receiving such services
Support the team by linking young people, particularly AGYW, to other health and social services in their respective communities
Drive the mobile clinic as needed by the project to reach outreach hotspot areas in communities
Engage with young people and other community members to facilitate an environment where service provision is acceptable and encouraged

Key performance areas:
Support the team with implementing the project in relation to educating young people, specifically AGYW and their communities on SRH and HIV prevention, and gender-based violence prevention
Mobilise AGYW for HIV testing and other SRH services provided by the project, specifically PrEP uptake
Encourage and stimulate full participation by young people to utilize the mobile clinic services; with special attention to those who are usually forgotten, marginalized, and overlooked (eg. disabled)
Support the project to create demand (through different platforms - community events, radio shows, outreach programs, etc.) in different settings, through a range of tactics across different channels
Create demand and awareness for project services by conducting health talks and community dialogues in communities in formal and non-formal environments
Work with colleagues to enhance project goals and outputs
Correct targeting and mobilization of young people (in particular AGYWs on site)
Support the team with identifying hot spots where a large number of young people are located and not able to access health care services (or where young people congregate)
Identify the needs of the communities
Supply and distribute IEC materials on a continuous basis to young people
Support the team by driving the mobile clinic to various identified hot spots in the community
Ensure all safety standards are met and company policies are adhered to when driving the mobile clinic
Engaging with operational staff to ensure vehicle licences are up to date and maintained
Mobile clinics stocked with IEC materials, promotional items, and self-care items
Assist the data collection clerks (in particular those on mobile units) where possible to complete accurate information on those clients referred for comprehensive SRH services, screened, offered, and initiated on PrEP
Submit paper collection sheets to Demand Creation Officers indicating daily targets and tracking services accessed by AGYW
Reports on blockages that may arise from the continuum - from identifying AGYW at most risk, demand creation, referral through to initiation
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
Take ownership of driving your own career by participating in ongoing training and development activities
Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12 (as a result of the needs of this project)
Experience in driving Code 10 vehicles, including license and PDP will be an added advantage
Required minimum work experience:
Must have worked as a community mobilizer in a community-based organization or setting for at least 6 months and have knowledge of Sexual Health Education and HIV
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Good communication skills: must be able to speak the local language of the area that the candidate is applying for the position
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Adaptable, approachable, empathetic, and willing to take initiative
