Job Description

Job Purpose:
To provide a support and supervisory service at the depot to both the Maintenance and Construction Branches and control equipment, non-stock material and certain depot labour resources.
Key Responsibility AreasKey Responsibility Areas:

Supervise, motivate, discipline and train the labour force required for depot service.

Supervise pool labour and allocation to appropriate gangs.

Supervise and control of standby labour and accommodation facilities, including adhoc after hours inspections.

Acquire minor non-stock items as directed and ensure timeous preparation of materials required by field staff.

Control inventories of depot assets, reclaimed materials and breakdown stores in accordance with the relevant Code of Practice.

Controls and maintains records of truck stock requisitions for all mobile gangs in accordance with the relevant Code of Practice.

Controls and issues laundry and consumables stores associated with the depot.

Responsible for the issue, control and repair of depot plant and equipment, including minor electrical repairs.

Uphold general cleanliness and good housekeeping and promoting safety and accident prevention at the depot.

Collect petty cash reimbursements and operate relevant computer systems.

Transport staff, materials and equipment.

Issue and control of hand tools in accordance with the relevant Code of Practice.

Monitor the condition of equipment and the local environment in terms of the Municipalitys SHE Management System.

Assist with sling and lifting gear inspections.

Essential RequirementsEssential Requirements:

Trade Tested Artisan (Electrician).

In possession of a NTC2 or NCV3 in Electrical Engineering from a Further Education and Training College registered with the Department of Education.

Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code EB or EC1) as applicable

Valid First Aid certificate or to be obtained within 6-12 months from date of appointment.

May be required to pass a proficiency test set by the department to prove sufficient general knowledge of Construction, Maintenance Operations systems including equipment tools and components utilised.

3 Years relevant post qualification experience.
