CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

  • Develop and implement the institutional Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy.
  • Provide strategic leadership and administration on matters concerning Arts, Culture and Heritage.
  • Oversee the interpretation and implementation of Arts Culture and Heritage related policies.
  • Build and enhance the identity and brand of the Nelson Mandela University utilizing Arts Culture and Heritage programmes and projects.

Here are some key performance areas that would be relevant to your position: * Policy Implementation Oversight:
  • Monitor and evaluate the effective implementation of University policies on Culture, Arts, and Heritage to ensure alignment with the institution's goals.
  • Strategic Advisory Services:
  • Advise the University on matters related to Arts, Culture, and Heritage, supporting the institution in its mission to become a "world-class" African University.
  • Program Development and Administration:
  • Conceptualize and implement Arts, Culture, and Heritage projects and programs to enhance access, participation, and enjoyment across all campuses.
  • Develop, enhance, and administer a broad range of activities promoting Arts, Culture and Heritage.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
  • Liaise with internal and external University stakeholders, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other entities regarding community Arts, Culture, and Heritage.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Communication & Marketing Directorate to evaluate and develop project strategies.
  • Coordinate resources and collaborate with other Communication & Marketing departments to ensure a cohesive and effective implementation of strategies.
  • Financial Management and Reporting:
  • Establish budgets and timelines for Arts, Culture, and Heritage projects, ensuring delivery within set parameters.
  • Develop additional funding proposals to supplement the operational budget.
  • Keep accurate records and prepare comprehensive reports on the implemented initiatives with evaluation processes.

REQUIREMENTS
  • M+4 qualification in any of the social sciences
  • Approximately 6 to 8 years experience, at least three years of which should be at a senior managerial position in an Arts, Culture and Heritage related post in the public service or equivalent in the private sector.
  • Demonstrated general administrative ability required for direction, control and implementation of Arts, Culture and Heritage activities.
