Job Description


Job Summary Duties:Overall responsibility for Engineering activities in one or more projects. Capable to understand & analyze the contract documents & specifications.
Lead, manage, and supervise the teams responsible for design of major components and provide guidance as needed during the design and construction supervision stages to ensure the adherence to the contract documents and established project's objectives.
Ensuring the input for the PEP (Project Execution Plan) & alignment of design team.
Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives for the Pre-construction, Construction as well as Post construction phase.
Drive the roadmap to achieve business goals and evaluate the challenges and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
Support various engineering teams, project management, sourcing, and other departments.
To work with other Senior Contract Managers to produce contract correspondence.
Review Tender & IFC information model issued by consultants (2D drawings, BIM models & asset data) as per ISO19650.
Budget and Plan design resources in the project.
Contribute to the overall business strategy and annual budget process.
Delegating and Reviewing Design team assignments
Ensure all data & backups stored regularly in the CDE.
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with the site HSE.
Review design performance of contractors at key stages and report to Project management.
Directing and ensuring design management is consistent across projects, or phases.
Ensuring design management function is aligned with client functional targets.
Ensuring that reporting and progress reporting is aligned with client reporting requirements.
Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on contractor design progress.
Ensuring designs are developed in compliance with project briefs for the contractor design elements.
Ensuring consultants are fulfilling contractual obligations for scope and deliverables.
Ensuring BIM management is integral to the programme and ongoing.
Ensuring scope change is monitored and managed in accordance with change protocols.
Ensuring client and 3rd party reviews are scheduled and aligned with programme.
Ensuring client and statutory Approvals are built into programme.
Quarterly performance review of reporting employees in timely manner.
Ensuring detailed and/or peer reviews are scheduled if required.
Ensuring value engineering workshops are scheduled and participated in.
Managing constructability reviews are scheduled and participated in.
Managing the preparation of consultant scopes and project briefs.
Supporting procurement in preparation of packages.
Evaluation of Sub contractor variations and claims in connection with design.
Reviewing contractor design submissions, design calculations and progress reports.
Lead and participate in key design and technical review workshops.
Challenging and supporting the design teams to ensure design solutions are optimized.
Utilizing company resources efficiently to accomplish assigned work.
Identifying and managing design-associated risks, mitigation strategies, and/or escalation.
Provide technical input into design-related material and deliverables within the scope.
Management of issues, risks and project change requests related to design, to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.
Managing weekly and monthly reports on the design progress.
Proven ability to manage time and act with pace, demonstrating a highly organized approach to work.
Report on Engineering activities on a regular basis to the Senior Management team
Ensuring the design process recognizes current legislation, standards, and codes of practice, and drawings in accordance with the statutory and regulatory building requirements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the engineering strategy.
Evaluating and interpreting client requirements to ensure that technical, legislative, and commercial aspects are delivered on each project.
Liaise and coordinate with clients, members of the engineering team and contractors on technical and commercial issues. Authorize design invoices.
Support the Temporary Works design & coordination. (Tower crane, Placing boom, hoist, formwork etc.)
Implement the process of design abortive works claims due to IFC changes.
Understand details & support Value Engineering process.
Support & ensure as built/redline process. Plan & submit direct works as-built drawings & models before the planned release date of design staff from project.
Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market and technology change and potential effects on engineering. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost.Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Civil, Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent.
At least 10 years experience in Engineering & Construction.
Min. 5 years experience in the role of design manager in GCC.
Construction/Project management experience in Middle East region.
Chartered/Registered member of relevant institution.
Basic knowledge of key design, review, and authoring software.
Knowledge of MS Office & Adobe Acrobat
Excellent written, visualization and spoken English.Preferable:
Masters Degree in Engineering or Management.
BIM principles & workflows.
Able to work in a BIM environment, familiar with Revizto, Autodesk docs and NavisworksNetwork FinanceRecruiter
