• Trade Test - Diesel Mechanic
• Hydraulics Certificate/Experience
• Experience in a workshop and breakdowns working on various Heavy Duty trucks including UD, Scania, Heino, Man etc. and forklifts/front end loaders
• Knowledgeable on the use of equipment, mechanical issues, diesel engines, electrical systems and various truck components.

Equipment Used:
This position may require the use hand tools, certain equipment and of appropriate safety protective equipment including gloves and boots.Primary Tasks:

• Perform thorough inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, cylinders, and valves.
• Conduct major engine repairs and overhauls, including cylinder head replacements, piston and ring installations, and fuel system adjustments.
• Ensure to use diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems accurately.
• Execute repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and other components.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, starters, alternators, batteries, and lighting.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify truck components.
• Conduct quality checks on completed repairs to ensure work meets established standards.

Occasional Tasks:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and services performed.
• Provide accurate and timely reports to supervisors on the status of repairs.
• Identify and order necessary parts and components for repairs and replacements.
• Monitor material levels and report restocking needs.
• Keep work area clean.
• Assist with the use of machinery.
• Any reasonable duties that his / her supervisor or manager may request.
