Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Location: Hermanus, Western Cape
Cost to company: R 30 000.00 - R 40 000.00

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine and preventive maintenance to keep their vehicles in optimal working condition.
• Diagnostic Skills: Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
• Repairs and Overhauls: Conduct repairs and overhauls on engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic systems, and other components as necessary.
• Parts Management: Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables to ensure timely repairs.
• Workshop Management: Supervise and coordinate activities of junior assistants, assigning tasks and providing guidance.
• Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities per vehicle, including hours worked, parts used, and service history.
• Communication: Liaise with fleet owners, drivers, and other stakeholders to address maintenance issues and coordinate servicing schedules.

Qualifications:

• Formal qualification as a Diesel Mechanic with at least 10 years of proven experience, preferably in fleet management associated with trucks and heavy machinery.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Valid driver's license, preferably Code 14 with PDP.
