Our client is searching for a proficient and seasoned Diesel Mechanic to join their TMM fleet team for underground mining operations. The ideal candidate will oversee the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered equipment and vehicles utilized in mining activities (Fermel, CAT, Sandvik, Epiroc, and Atlas Copco). This role demands a comprehensive grasp of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems commonly integrated into mining equipment.Position details:Type: PermanentKey Responsibilities:Maintenance and Repair:Execute routine maintenance tasks on diesel engines, such as oil and filter changes, greasing, and belt inspections.Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on mining equipment.Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other components to ensure optimal performance and safety.Inspection and Testing:Conduct thorough inspections of diesel equipment to detect potential issues and forestall breakdowns.Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to test components, pinpoint faults, and implement necessary repairs.Safety and Compliance:Adhere rigorously to safety protocols and procedures within underground mining environments.Ensure compliance with mining regulations and standards pertaining to equipment maintenance and operation.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain meticulous records of maintenance and repair activities conducted on each piece of equipment.Generate detailed reports outlining discoveries, repairs, parts used, and time allocated to maintenance tasks.Team Collaboration:Collaborate closely with fellow mechanics, operators, and supervisors to synchronize maintenance schedules and optimize equipment availability.Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced mechanics and operators as required.Location: Northern CapeJob Qualifications, Skills & Experience:Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualificationMinimum of 10 years of proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic in underground mining.Red Seal Trade certification or equivalent technical qualifications are advantageous.Profound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mining equipment electrical systems.Competence in utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment for the identification and resolution of mechanical issues.Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints effectively.Thorough understanding of safety protocols and regulations applicable to underground mining operations.Exceptional problem-solving aptitude with acute attention to detail.Strong communication skills and adeptness in team-oriented environments.Competencies:Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player mentality.Capacity to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Proficiency in independent work and supervision of subordinates.Additional information:Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers LicenseComputer literacy MS Office SuiteBe prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts, and work overtimeSuccessfully obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness to work undergroundCompany Description:Our client is a prominent mining concern dedicated to maintaining high standards of operational excellence and safety within the mining industry.
