The Planning Analyst plays a crucial role in the Planning team by analysing data to gain insights into both customer demand on the retail side and delivery capacity on the logistics side. This role focuses on accurately forecasting demand, optimizing store and driver capacities, and ensuring efficient operational practices across the entire delivery network. In addition to managing peak periods and events, the Planning Analyst provides regular performance reports, identifies potential risks within both retail and logistics frameworks, and implements strategies to mitigate them, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Role Description
Adhere to team objectives supporting demand forecasting accuracy by engaging in regular team check-ins and incorporating feedback to adjust tasks dynamically.
Apply analytical techniques to evaluate historical sales and delivery data to identify trends, ensuring alignment with actual customer behaviour and market dynamics.
Maintain high attention to detail when documenting both network and logistics requirements to ensure clarity and consistency throughout all processes.
Investigate both customer buying and delivery behaviour to identify trends, anomalies, and potential inefficiencies impacting operations and resource allocation.
Comply with operational standards during both retail and logistics optimization activities, ensuring processes are efficient and service quality is maintained.
Conduct in-depth analyses focusing on demand forecasting and capacity assessments for both retail and delivery channels, identifying potential gaps and suggesting viable solutions.
Escalate any issues related to demand or capacity fluctuations to appropriate team members, seeking collaborative solutions across functional areas.
Execute tasks for integrated network design and resource rebalancing as directed, utilizing analytical insights to provide feedback on potential alternatives when necessary.
Gather data and perform comprehensive analyses to inform decision-making processes, communicating key metrics and findings clearly to stakeholders.
Plan personal workload to effectively contribute during peak demand and delivery periods, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Research external factors affecting both customer demand and delivery patterns, providing insights for strategic adjustments.
Service collaborative efforts with various departments, including marketing, operations, and finance, to foster teamwork and understanding of shared objectives.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by helping to identify and document best practices observed in current processes.
Utilise data-driven insights to assist in the refinement of planning methodologies and approaches used by the team.
Work with the Operations team to gain an understanding of stakeholder engagement and operational priorities.
Process ad hoc requests and provide basic analytical support for strategic projects as needed.
Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures in all assigned tasks, assisting in mitigating risks associated with non-compliance and supporting organisational integrity.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Data Analysis or a related field - (essential).
+3 years of experience in demand planning, data analysis, or a related analytical role - (essential).
Good analytical and quantitative abilities - (essential).
Good understanding of e-commerce, network design, and optimisation - (preferred).
Proficiency in MS Office 365 including strong Excel skills - (essential).
Familiarity with forecasting software, analytics tools, or relevant technologies - (preferred).
