Job Description

Duties/Pligte
Acting as head of the Division: Student Finance, including Undergraduate Bursaries. Managing staff and the operational budget of the Division. Manage risks within the division incl. outstanding debt, debt collection, National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Managing and operating the Student Finance Division's operating systems. Driving communication processes with students and other external clients, including. maintenance of the yearbook. Preparing reports for management and other stakeholders. Providing input for the preparation of the University's integrated budget. Providing regular variance reports between budgeted and actual student fees. Providing input for completion of year-end and audit procedures. Representing the Finance Division at management level, other departments, faculties and external clients. Monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures. Reviewing reconciliations and control accounts of the relevant departments. Developing and implementing relevant policies. Providing financial advice to the University and external clients. Handling telephone, walk-in and email queries about financial procedures and systems. Providing input and assistance with the development and integration of IT systems relevant to the environment (including Oracle Cloud Financials and the Academia Cloud Student Administration System).

Bestuur risiko's binne die Afdeling, met inbegrip van uitstaande skuld, skuldinvordering, en die Lening-en-beursskema vir behoeftige studente (NSFAS). Bestuur en bedryf van die Afdeling Studente Finansies se bedryfstelsels. Dryf kommunikasie prosesse met studente en ander eksterne kliente, insluitend die bywerk van die jaarboek. Opstel van verslae vir bestuur en ander belanghebbendes. Verskaf insette vir die opstel van die Universiteit se geIntegreerde begroting. Verskaf gereelde afwykingsverslae tussen begrote en werklike studente- en inwoningsgelde. Verskaf insette vir afhandeling van jaareind- en ouditprosedures. Verteenwoordig die Afdeling Finansies by bestuur, ander afdelings, fakulteite en eksterne kliente. Monitering van die nakoming van finansiele beleide en prosedures. Nasien van rekonsiliasies en kontrolerekeninge van die betrokke afdelings. Ontwikkeling en implementering van tersaaklike beleide. Verskaf finansiele advies aan die Universiteit en eksterne kliente. Hantering van telefoniese, instap- en e-posnavrae oor finansiele prosedures en stelsels. Lewer insette en hulp met die ontwikkeling en integrasie van IT stelselsvan toepassing tot die omgewing (insluitend Oracle Cloud Fincials en die Academia Cloud Student Administration System).


Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
SAICA registered Chartered Accountant with completed articles and an honours Degree. At least five years' relevant managerial experience. Proven experience in personnel management. Excellent skills in judgment, decision-making and problem-solving. Strong organisational and planning skills. The ability to work effectively under pressure. A strong accounting and financial background. Time management skills. The ability to respect and maintain confidentiality. The ability to take initiative and provide guidance on senior level. Advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.


'n SAICA-geregistreerde Geoktrooieerde Rekenmeester met `n voltooide klerkskap en 'n honneursgraad. Minstens vyf jaar se toepaslike bestuurservaring. Bewese ervaring in personeelbestuur. Uitstekende vaardigheid ten opsigte van oordeel, besluitneming en probleemoplossing. Sterk organiserings- en beplanningsvaardighede. Die vermoe om effektief onder druk te werk. 'n Sterk rekeningkundige en finansiele agtergrond. Tydsbestuurvaardighede. Die vermoe om vertroulikheid te respekteer en te handhaaf. Die vermoe om op senior vlak inisiatief te kan neem en leiding te verskaf. Gevorderde rekenaarvaardigheid in veral MS Excel, Word, en PowerPoint. Goeie skriftelike en mondelinge kommunikasievaardighede. Sterk interpersoonlikevaardighede.


Recommendation/Aanbeveling
Three years' experience in a higher teaching or similar institution. MBA. Experience with debt collection.


Drie jaar se ervaring in `n hoer onderrig- of soortgelyke instelling. MBA. * Ervaring met skuldinvordering.
