CORE PURPOSE OF JOBProvide effective leadership and active oversight of the strategic and managerial functions in the Department of Student Governance and Development in pursuit of holistic student life and development.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Strategic Management
  • Provide Leadership in the Management of Student Life and Governance
  • Drive the development and roll-out of a comprehensive Student Leadership Development Programmes
  • Management of Student Media and Engagement
  • Ensure effective and efficient Financial Management
  • Strategically manage the Human Resources in the department
  • Drive Policy Development and Monitoring
  • Promote Research and Knowledge Management

  • Advanced understanding of youth development philosophies and models
  • Substantial experience in working in a diverse and transformative environment.
  • Advanced Project Management Skills
  • Advanced Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Skills
  • Advanced research and organisational knowledge management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of policy development skills
  • Understanding of the dynamic nature of strategy and organisational development
  • Understanding of the dynamics and diversity of student politics and the higher education sector.
  • Advanced negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative support systems including financial management, human resources management, and information technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Adaptability and flexibility including but not limited to working long and unpredictable working hours
  • Drivers license
REQUIREMENTSTo be considered for this position, candidates are required to possess the following:
  • Relevant Honours Degree or equivalent
  • At least 6 -10 Years relevant and / or working experience in which competency was gained within a Public or Development sector.
  • At least 6 years experience in Middle/Senior management
  • A possession of a Masters Degree as well as knowledge of, and experience in higher education will be an added advantage.
