Key performance areas:
Communicate, promote and support implementation of the School-based HIV & GBV program at the district, sub[1]district and facility levels
Provide programme implementation guidance and support to District team members to ensure delivery of program activities according to timelines and budgets
Constant consultation and planning with the Provincial manager and district teams
Conduct regular meetings with district team to ensure outputs are delivered and to review progress on implementation plan
Review district implementation plans for effective implementation of the program
Identify the needs of the program at a district level and obtain resources required
Coordinate and troubleshoot all programme-related activities
Through the Provincial manager, work closely with the Capacity building manager to ensure that capacity building activities are implemented in the district
Monitor the delivery and quality of training as well as program elements at the district level
Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback and support to the district implementing staff
Participate in ongoing mentorship programmes initiated by other WRHI stakeholders
Support the district team, ensuring that communication between the team is optimal and that program activities are coordinated and leveraged
Ensure coordination across programme streams, ISHP, PrEP, Community Services and Linkage to care
Support activities that promotes and advocate for adolescent and youth friendly service (AYFS) or youth zones at health facility and community level
Maintain close communication with the M&E team to ensure adequate and regular reporting and documenting lesson learnt and success stories
Develop and effectively manage relationships with relevant Wits RHI structures
Contribute to the achievement of Wits RHIs corporate goals and objectives
Develop and effectively manage relationships with external stakeholders including DBE, DOH, DSD, donors, DREAMS partners and other key stakeholders
Serve as a representative of the Schools project on external forums/working groups in the district
Coordinate programme activities with external agencies such as public health, NGO partners, regulatory bodies, donor monitoring and auditing agencies and others as necessary
Supervise and manage line reporting in keeping with Wits RHI policies and procedures
Attend to all staffing requirements and administration at a district level
Supervise and manage the duties of supervisees to ensure optimal staff utilisation and maintenance of sound labour relations
Perform and facilitate regular performance assessments
Identify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective action
Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisation
Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing of information
Provide day-to-day support to all project staff
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in on-going training and development activities such as forums, conferences, policy setting workshops, etc.
Required minimum education and training:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Social Science, Public Health, Education, Management or related fields
Must be a South African national or permanent resident with fluency in English and in at least one local indigenous South African language
Must have a valid South African drivers license and be willing to travel
Required minimum work experience:
At least 3 - 5 Years of experience working in Health and Education sector, comprehensive package of SRH services including HTS, PrEP, PEP and STI screening, child protection, Gender Based Violence (GBV) and youth programs
Experience in working with SAG ministries (DBE, DSD, DOH) and other government departments
Understanding and knowledge of HIV, SRH, PrEP and GBV
Experience with PEPFAR funded project will be an added advantage
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including report writing
Able and willing to work flexible hours as needed and without constant or close supervision
Demonstrated role in strengthening coordination and facilitate project implementation at district level including sub districts
Understanding of the school environment and experience in working with government departments at all three levels of government
Stakeholder engagement and management
Able and willing to work flexible hours as needed and without constant or close supervision
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Able to maintain confidentiality, tact and professionalism at all times
Able to exercise discretion, high levels of initiative and decision-making in consultation with the line manager
