Draftsman
Job Description
Overview
A draftsman, or drafter, creates technical drawings and plans based on the designs of architects and engineers. He/She will use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings.
Responsibilities
Create technical drawings for buildings, including homes and commercial structures
Specify materials, dimensions, and procedures for new products
Create 3D models to help clients, architects, engineers, and construction employees visualize the final product
Incorporate building codes and measurements into drawings
Create workflow diagrams for multi-step procedures
Provide technical guidelines for construction and manufacturing
Education
Diploma or the NQF Level 6 with Construction and Engineering Drafting
