Job Description


Responsibilities

Draughting

  • Following the customer drawing specifications and calculations accordingly
  • Understands equations, calculations, written instructions from customers before beginning with CAD drawing.
  • Use autoCAD software to prepare internal drawings.
  • Prepare the DXF if not provided by the customers.
  • Manage and interpret customer additional and specific requirements.
  • Use the correct notations and symbols to give instructions on DXF drawings.
  • Check and verify the DXF and confirm details with the order specification.
  • Double check that all instructions are clearly stipulated on the DXF file.
  • Liaise with Internal Sales for any additional information needed from the customer.
  • Revise drawings accordingly based on amendments and instructions from customer when requested/required.
  • Ensure that final drawing is correct and accurate will all special instructions noted.
  • Identify and analyse any drawing discrepancies and report them to the Operations Manager and responsible Internal Sales.
  • Work with production team to ensure customer requirements are met.
Maintain records of customer drawings on the customer drawing folders.

Offer technical support and advice to Internal Sales team.

Communicate any complex drawings with the relevant Internal Sales person.

Nesting
  • Review drawings to define job cards nesting requirements.
  • Sorts drawings into groups based on compatibility factors such as part quantity and shape, as well as the type, size, alloy, and gauge of material to be cut
  • Develop cutting programs based the grouped data above.
  • Produce a nest that maximizes material utilization while minimizing cutting machine setup time.
  • Enter computer commands to retrieve stored parts data and graphic displays, such as simulated patterns or templates.
  • Manipulate part images on the computer screen to achieve the best possible nesting arrangement.
  • Enters commands to title and save nest layouts in computer memory, as well as to create and maintain source files.
  • Enter commands to transfer nest data, listings, or layouts to the cutting machine.
  • Operate digitizing equipment to produce patterns.
  • May discuss nesting or machining problems with machine operators or other personnel.
  • Discuss any material shortage with Procurement and Operations Manager.
  • Understands, complies to and adheres to the Drawing Department processes, standard work instructions and safe work procedures.
  • Understands and Adheres to all company policies, procedures, business ethics codes and other company requirements and ensures that they are communicated and implemented with the team.
Competency Requirements:
  • Minimum Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • Minimum Qualification: Computer Aided Drawing Office Practice (CAD) N4 Certificate
  • 3-5 years CAD software experience
  • 3-5 years experience as a Nesting Officer or similar experience
  • Ability to read and interpret customer technical drawings
  • Working knowledge and experience of AutoCad software
  • Working knowledge and experience of Trutops software
  • Working knowledge and experience of Sigma Nest software
  • Working knowledge and experience of Bysoftware7
Knowledge of GEO software

Additional drawing courses and software.

Knowledge of material properties and tools required for customer specifications.

Knowledge of drawing techniques, codes, symbols

Speed and accuracy are critical

Mathematics and Science background

Ability to do measurement conversions

Computer literacy- Proficient in MS Office

Knowledge of the services offered

Understanding of production processes

Good communication skills, people relation skills and interpersonal skills (internal and external) * Knowledge of general administrative processes
