SANBI offers basic annual salary of R183 279.00The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to render logistical support with regards to maintenance and development of Garden by driving vehicles and render general support services.A Grade 10, job specific qualification or equivalent qualification with NQF2 with 4 years experience of driving a heavy motor vehicle, and driver license (EC) with professional driving permit (PDP) or 3 years work experience of driving a heavy motor vehicle when having a grade 12 job specific qualification with NQF4. A higher education qualification/Diploma or equivalent at NQF5 will be an added advantage.The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: Transport staff to and from work and work weekend and sleep in duties, drive the refuse removal truck or tractor assisting with loading or offloading of material, own safety and that of passengers, collecting and sorting recyclable materials from the various collecting sites to the recycle bins at the recycle station. Operate vehicles on and outside premises, collect materials for orders. Transport passengers and goods and. Routine maintenance and garaging of vehicles reporting all findings immediately to the supervisor. Daily vehicle inspection and check warning lights, oil, water and fuel check and report all findings to the supervisor. Mowing lawn. Assist machine operators with brush cutting of grass when requested. Work outside premises on occasions like exhibitions and displays and plant collecting trips. Loading and offloading of plant material equipment. Assist in wildfire fighting and other emergencies. Operate TLB and drive trucks. Assist in production of mulch compost and wood chips, report pests and disease when executing your daily tasks. Comply with traffic rules and drive in a safe manner, comply with safety and security measures when using SANBI vehicles. Perform standby and sleep-in duty as well as work weekends according to the roster.Key Performance Responsibilities include:

  • Transportation of people, goods and material.
  • Participate in conservation maintenance of the estate
  • Ensure resource management
  • Provide customer service and support health and safety services
