As a driver, the post incumbent will be primarily responsible for driving AHF Wellness Clinic vehicles and ensure that programmes vehicles are in good condition to deliver services at the required locations, coordinate all transport activities and assist in the day to day logistics activities required by the organization. The incumbent will provide daily driving of the Wellness Clinic vehicles and transporting Wellness Clinic staff in the approved geographical areas for clinic recruitment, clinic care sessions, meeting and any other activity pertaining to the KZN Wellness Clinic operations.As a HAST counsellor, the post incumbent will be providing HAST screen and testing services to Wellness Clinic clients. Duties also include offering health advice and education to at-risk patients so that they can protect against HIV and AIDS. In addition to education responsibilities, also provide referrals and suggest resources for people who already have HIV.Position will be based in KwaZulu-Natal Province AHF Westville Office as the starting point of each dayEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWellness Clinic Driver:
  • Maintains safety standards during transportation of staff, drugs and laboratory specimens (where required).
  • Ensures timely transportation for the Wellness Clinic staff and program staff when needed.
  • Picks up, drops off, and delivers documents, quotes, invoices, financial reports, logistical requirements and at times cash for all AHF programs (where required).
  • Picks up and drops off AHF guests from/to the airport or from any other point of departure (where required).
  • Maintains vehicle logbook, accounting for all mileage and fuel consumption/ costs, minimizes fuel cost and does not permit anyone to drive the vehicle, unless authorized to do.
  • Ensures that the vehicle is up to date with all license registration before moving the vehicle.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle including daily cleaning inside and weekly (minimum) car wash.
  • Maintains vehicle in good mechanical order and submits weekly log sheets to support this.
  • Reports repairs and arranges any replacements immediately with approval from the immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure that vehicle under his/her care is secured from loss or damage at all times.
  • Never drives the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Observes the non-smoking rule in the vehicle at all times.
  • Ensures that organizations vehicles are always serviced on time and provides a report to the respective Provincial Operations Manager and Wellness Clinic Coordinator on all the service details.
  • Report mechanical condition of the vehicles and advise the respective Provincial Operations Manager on the required repairs.
  • Ensure that vehicles are securely parked while not on duty.
  • Ensure that vehicles are well fueled prior to any journey and timely provides respective Administration Officer with copies of the fuel invoices for the monthly fuel reconciliation report.
  • Works out a schedule for vehicle movement in collaboration with the relevant staff that is accommodative of all staff needs for transportation.
  • Drives safely and responsibly at all times, must be knowledgeable about, and comply with South African driving / traffic and parking rules & regulations.
  • Assist in stores processes to receive and issue stocks of Prevention and Testing programs (when required).
  • Assist in the distribution of commodities like condoms, test kits and any medical consumables (when required).
  • Carry out other duties as assigned from time to time.
Wellness Clinic Counsellor:
  • Provides pre and post HIV confidential counseling, to prepare patients who are willing to get tested for HIV.
  • Perform the rapid HIV testing on all clients that have consented to testing.
  • Records and documents client information on the official source document.
  • Encourages and support patients that test positive, helping them to cope with the new diagnosis.
  • Refer patients for necessary healthcare services including ART, TB, Index testing, etc.
  • Recruit patients from different community service points yielding high positivity (Sex workers, Injecting drug users, Homeless people, Taxi & Tuck drivers etc.)
  • Daily Recruitment of Index contacts patients for testing
  • Work together with Linkage officers to phone Index contacts for testing.
  • Ensure uninterrupted distribution of condoms in all service points by continuously refilling condom dispensers.
  • Conduct health talks in the community
  • Actively recruit key population groups through conducting health talks in targeted hot spots
  • Participates in HIV testing program initiatives and campaigns.
  • Facilitates linkage between HIV diagnosis, care, support and treatment.
  • Facilitates group test counseling/education in rapid testing campaigns to ensure maximum client coverage.
  • Facilitate education to people with promotion of consistent condom use and any other added duties
Ongoing adherence counseling duties include:
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals (doctor, nurse, social worker, community health care worker & liaison officers, home-based caregiver, and psychologist) in maintaining care and treatment protocol.
  • Provide direct and comprehensive primary, preventive and adherence counselling to patients.
  • Teach and counsel patients & their contacts on HIV infection and maintaining a low viral load
  • Conduct adherence counseling and document the sessions in the official recording tools
  • Provide ongoing psychosocial counseling to clients presenting for at Wellness clinic centers, and any other added duties
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to speak fluent in English;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to deal with a difficult client.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • National Matric Certificate, Certificate on HIV/AIDS Treatment Training e.g. 10 days HIV training; or a Certificate for HIV/AIDS Counseling Skills Training. A Diploma in child and youth development or in Counseling would be an advantage. Previous HIV counseling and testing experience highly desirable.
  • Previous driving and HIV counselling employment with at least 2 years uninterrupted experience.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training related to driving and road safety; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Logistics and procurement diploma an added advantage)
  • Must have a Valid Code 10 Valid Drivers license, held consecutively for at least 5 years.
  • Valid PDP required.
