Editor- Cape TownFull job descriptionJob DesciptionMaskew Miller Learning is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Editor to join our Product team. The key focus area of this position is to manage the editorial and production process of a product through the various editorial stages, ensuring a high-quality product is delivered according to the agreed deadlines and within the approved budget. This fixed term position is based in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will work across our Languages, Humanities, and STEM portfolios. The managing editor will be reporting to the Product manager.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversee the entire editorial process from manuscript submission to final publication.Ensure the highest quality of content by editing, proofreading, and fact-checking.Collaborate with authors, freelancers, and other team members to maintain project timelines.Manage the production schedule to ensure timely delivery of products.Coordinate with the design and production teams to ensure the final product meets quality standards.Ensure follow-up and completion of all required tasks and proactively communicate any issues or required changes.Follow-up on required tasks performed by internal and external team members.Escalate issues where needed.To manage and control projects, deadlines, budget and quality control.An understanding of the product scope, marketplace, landscape, competitors, end users and other relevant factors is built up for each product type.Complete final quality control check of product.Educational RequirementsBachelor's degree in EnglishExperience RequirementsThree years editorial and/or project management experienceKnowledge and experience in the Education sector advantageousKnowledge and understanding of pedagogy and teaching methodology advantageousKnowledge and experience in the publishing sector advantageousSkills and CompetenciesProficiency in English is criticalHighly organised and detail-orientedAbility to work effectively under pressureEffective communicator and team-working skillsProven analytical and problem-solving skillsProven project and time management skills (prioritize projects to meet business goal and deadlines)Content, media or publishing experience
