Job Description

Purpose of the job:
To develop, configure, maintain, support and ensure coordination of installation and connectivity of computer systems to ensure the stable operation of the company IT infrastructure by optimizing all new and existing network infrastructure, software, audio-visual system, telephone systems and data centre
 
Key Performance Area:
 
Maintenance of DSI Network infrastructure:
Maintain the availability of network infrastructure.
Design and implement short- and long-term plans to make certain network capacity meet existing and future requirements.
Assist in developing IT procedures, policies and standards for the Infrastructure.
 
Implementation of telecommunication and audio-visual system:
Setup and configure VoIP telephone system and other telecommunication systems
Implement and administer the VoIP PABX server hardware
Maintain the VoIP PABX server hardware
 
2nd level desktop support:
Provide 2nd level support on desktops systems and applications.
Provide technical support guidance to the 1st level support staff.
Update the service desk on the status of backend systems and applications on a regular basis.
 
Configuration Management:
Verify inventory of all IT related hardware (Servers, Routers, Desktop, Notebook, Printer and other peripherals)
Administer and control all IT hardware warranties and software licenses
Control all IT equipment in the storeroom
 
Implementation and maintenance of local area network backbone:
Coordinate infrastructure network cabling.
Establish service level agreements with users and services providers.
Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for IT projects.
 
Knowledge and skills:
Knowledge and understanding of Datacenter Management, Network Infrastructure, Active Directory, Group Policies, MS Exchange, Core Switching/Routing, SSL/IPSec, SAN, Virtualization, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Routing, Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, network interface cards d) Knowledge and understanding of Public Service Regulation and PFMA
