Job Description

Job Purpose:

To perform electrical installations, maintenance, inspections, and repairs in compliance with legal standards and company requirements. The Electrician must be registered with the Electrical Conformance Board (ECB) and ensure all work is compliant with relevant electrical regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in accordance with SANS 10142 and other applicable standards. Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting of faults on equipment, panels, and distribution boards. Ensure all electrical work complies with ECB requirements and is completed safely and efficiently. Issue Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) as required by law and project specifications. Inspect existing electrical installations and provide detailed reports and recommendations. Read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation. Work closely with other technical and maintenance staff to coordinate repair and installation tasks. Maintain accurate logs of work completed and materials used. Stay up-to-date with changes in electrical regulations and safety procedures. Respond promptly to breakdowns and attend to emergency electrical repairs.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 or equivalent. Trade Test Certificate as Electrician (recognized by the Department of Labour). Valid registration with the Electrical Conformance Board of South Africa (ECB). Valid Wireman's License. At least 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in electrical installation and maintenance. Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards. Valid driver's license and reliable transport (if required). Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces.
