Job Description


RPO's client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronic Development Engineer to join their team in Kempton Park. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in electronic engineering, with an eye for detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure.Responsibilities:

  • Execute instructions from the R&D Manager and Managing Director regarding experiments, tests, and simulations of electronic systems.
  • Conduct and analyze experiments and simulations using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on activities and findings, using available data and resources.
  • Provide regular updates to the R&D Manager on task progress.
  • Maintain detailed and accessible records of all tests and experiments conducted.
  • Design and develop schematics and PCBs using DesignSparkPCB software as needed.
  • Create and maintain technical documents, including reports, studies, QA documentation, procedures, BOMs, master files, and construction files.
  • Source and procure necessary components for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Ensure proper storage of documentation on the company's internal network.
  • Respond promptly to information requests and instructions communicated via email or phone from colleagues and management.
  • Develop and implement embedded code and computer software according to project requirements.
  • Diagnose, debug, and interact with blast control systems in the field as required, based on training and expertise.
  • Collaborate with team members to support R&D project execution.
  • Review and evaluate PCB and schematic designs developed by team members for quality control.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the company's telecommunications and network infrastructure.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements across production, administration, and development areas.
  • Coordinate and facilitate R&D team meetings as directed by the Managing Director.
Requirements:
  • B.ENG Electronic Degree.
  • Proficiency in PCB Design.
  • Experience with embedded C firmware development.
  • Competence in using DesignSparkPCB software.
  • Ability to develop embedded and computer code (e.g., Embedded C for Microchip PIC 12,16,18,32, Linux, node.js, React).
  • Familiarity with mechanical CAD packages for generating technical drawings.
  • Strong ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective technical writing skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the capability to provide training when required.
