Our commitment to "We grow what matters" reflects our dedication to nourishing lives, communities, and the future.As a leading player in the Food Manufacturing industry, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality products and making a positive impact.As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as an Engineer: Energy Maintenance & Operations with our Sugar business unit.The job holder will be required to manage the maintenance requirements in the Energy Department, which includes steam and electricity generation as well as the services departments, ensuring that maintenance, operations and statutory requirements are carried out safely, effectively, and efficiently.The role will be based in Malelane and report to the Engineering Manager.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEnsure the quality of work performed by the maintenance team complies with engineering standards.Develop, set, and uphold sound engineering maintenance and operational practices and procedures.Responsible and accountable for compiling and controlling the budget for Energy department.Ensure boilers are operated safely and efficiently and operators are trained.Review and revise maintenance plans to ensure maximum plant availability.Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for boiler operations to ensure reliability and safety.Monitor and manage boiler water quality to prevent scaling, corrosion, and other issues that could impact boiler performance and safety.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to boiler emissions.Minimum RequirementsQualification:BTech/BSc/BEng in Mechanical EngineeringGovernment Certificate of Competency for Factories (GCC) is advantageousSkills and Experience:Minimum of 3 years of engineering experiencePrior experience in the sugar industry will be an added advantageExperience in boiler operations and pressure vessel maintenanceStrong knowledge of maintenance schedules, inspections, SHE procedures, maintenance budgets and cost controlProficiency in computer applications is essentialFamiliarity with the OHS Act and other relevant engineering legislations and statutory requirementsWillingness to work standby and unplanned overtimeMust be a South African citizen to be considered for this position
