  • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in Asset Management interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Develop discipline-specific plans/systems to reduce exposure to Asset Management-specific risks.
  • Design and approve operational risk management systems to assess critical risks and monitor effectiveness of critical controls within the discipline.
  • Ensure clear expectation management between AAP Corporate and site on improvement initiatives and AMF implementation, including decision on areas for support by Corporate.
  • Provide input for definition of enhancement ideas or new (digital) opportunities, reflecting site specific requirements.
  • Review translated OM work/strategy to identify improvement opportunities and selection of best- suited actions.
  • Support monitoring and reviewing of AS&R related risks across AAP sites, bringing in site experience as part of seconded role.
  • Define AS&R related critical controls on site and ensure consistent implementation across operations within capability as rotational role.
  • Adjust critical controls if required based on effectiveness reviews.
  • Coordinate cross-site implementation of best practices and monitor project progress.
  • Steer and support operational improvement activities including on-site support within scope of rotational role.
  • Identify critical topics and align further central AAP SH&AR involvement or potential Group escalation as applicable.
  • Consolidate findings across sites and support generation of reporting on AS&R Risk and Assurance space.
  • Review effectiveness of critical controls and compare findings across sites to provide insights for reporting.
  • Consolidate technical feedback across on-site teams on production system and process optimisation potentials.
  • Contribute to building relationships with key stakeholders relevant to Asset Management on a Business Unit level, ensuring engagements are consistent with Business Unit and Group sustainability initiatives and standards.

This role is at a band 5 level reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager.Qualifications
  • Relevant Technical qualifications e.g. BSc, Pr Eng, Pr Tech or equivalent / National N diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Advantageous: Registered with Engineering Council of South Africa
  • Advantageous: MSC(Engineering) or South Africa Government Certificate of Competency - Mine
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • 5 years senior management experience in a mineral industry engineering environment
  • Included should be at least three years' experience specific to underground mining operations
  • Included should be at least three years asset management input
  • Key value drivers across value chain and interdependence of key levers.
  • Principles and elements of the Asset Management systems.
  • Project management fundamentals
  • New technologies and their impact on operational activities within scope of role.
  • Commercial/business drivers in discipline, business performance variability and underlying causes that define subsequent action.
  • Development and application of solutions to the discipline value chain to ensure productive and safe work and achieve plans.
  • Application of Sustainability and Safety concepts to decision-making.
  • Business improvement techniques to improve business performance and sustainability for the discipline.
  • Interpretation of benchmarks, identification of performance gaps and development of targeted, effective plans to achieve measurable operational improvements for the discipline.
  • Allocation and management of work packages across a portfolio of project activities.

  • Valid EB/Code 08 driver's licence
  • Medical certificate of fitness
  • Work on site at Mine operation will be required. This may involve activities of a physical nature in a typical mine environment
