Position Title: Engineering Maintenance ManagerPosition Type: Regular - Full-Time Position Location: DelmasGrade: Grade 06Requisition ID: 30524Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Engineering Maintenance Manager in the Engineering Department to be based at the McCain Delmas site, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will report to the Plant Manager.PURPOSE OF THE JOB:The incumbent will ensure that a high level of plant availability is achieved, support implementation of global maintenance management initiatives. Drive reliability through centered maintenance and associated practices. Ensure condition inspection and lubrication route schedules are followed and regularly evaluated. The incumbent will ensure there are investigations for Route Cause Analysis (RCAs). Compile asset life matrix to give overview on status of assets inside the plant and drive continuous improvement.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Safety;

• Ensure OHSACT compliance regarding machinery safety, boiler and refrigeration system statutory inspections, lifting equipment, major hazardous installations.
• Administrative compliance regarding safety meetings and safety representative inspections.
• Actively participate in creating a safety culture inside the Plant.
• Manage employee safety to ensure zero recordable injuries to employees.
• Ensure subordinates comply with permit to work and other safety permits on site.
• Ensure contractors work safely on site and comply with relevant permits to work.
• Always ensure correct use of correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Cost;

• Compile departmental maintenance budget.
• Control monthly expenditure of engineering department.
• Ensure superintendents focus on open works orders, open purchase orders and requisitions to forecast expenditure.
• Manage small internal projects.
• Identify cost saving (Sustainable Cost Advantage - SCA) opportunities within the department.
• Weekly discussions on costs and forward projection of expenditure.
• Manage overtime of department.

• People;

• Manage performance of subordinates through key performance indicators, courageous talks and robust discussions on breakdowns.
• Handle any ER matter that may arise within department with the assistance of Human Resources (HR) manager.
• Drive departmental participation in the employee culture-climate survey (Our Voice Survey) of the company.
• Create performance culture within department.

• Delivery;

• Manage the maintenance, breakdowns and asset reliability schedules and programs to achieve a high-level plant availability.
• Work closely with the Production department to schedule essential, and preventative maintenance work.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve line performance (recovery and throughput).
• Manage the asset life cycle and asset replacement plans with the Project Engineer.

• Food Safety & Quality;

• Collaborate with the Food Safety & Quality Manager to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Ensure maintenance work is scheduled and completed in compliance with acceptable food safety standards.
• Active participation in the plant audits as part of the Food safety council.

• Environment;

• Collaborate with Environmental and Production managers to achieve environmental targets in the Plant, Carbon Dioxide (CO2), water, electricity, and coal.
• Ensure environmental compliance on boiler emissions, hazardous material management.
• Implement corrective actions to ensure compliance.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BTech/BEng Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Government Competency Certificate (Factories).
• Minimum 5 years experience in a FMCG factory in a similar role.
• Must have good working knowledge of OHS Act.
• Good understanding of design codes and equipment integrity restoration practices.
• Good understanding of CMMS (e.g. SAP) and applicable transactions.
• Cost control and budget management skills (strong financial analytics).
• Excellent interpersonal skills in managing a diverse team.
• Understanding preventative maintenance systems.
• Ability to chair and direct Safety, Health and Environmental meetings.
• Ability to handle Employee Relations (ER) challenges.
• Root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable countermeasures.
• Appointee as GMR 2.1.
• OHSA and relevant Regulations.
